Bosley's continuing updates

Almost all of Bosley's exterior accents, save the bonnet stripes and *ahem* repaired boot lid dent, have now been completed. He actually has two side mirrors and headlights that work! We painted the side mirrors to match the roof and future bonnet stripes. His new steering wheel should be in sometime this week and we're hoping to have him more or less finalized (for now) and running properly for the St. Patrick's Day Parade next week.

Two questions, when do you add the bonnet stripes? And will they be painted or decal?

BTW - Great color choice. He looks like he's ready for Summer.

I'll be, or rather my custom vinyl guy will be, adding the bonnet stripes sometime in the next few weeks. I'm going to schedule it for the same time he blacks out my R56 MCS. They will be high grade vinyl.

As for summer...I definitely hope! He's still running warm after flushing and cleaning the radiator, so we're hoping the bypass sleve, which forces the radiator to constantly recirculate the water, will keep the temps down. I'm worried about not being able to drive him any during our typical summers here in Arkansas. If the sleeve doesn't work, we also have a new thermostat arriving at the same time. It may just be one of those issues I have to face if I ever have to drive him above 45 mph.

It was nice meeting you in Memphis this past weekend. I recognized the car. I'm the guy that had the 1979 British Racing Green Classic at the Roadshow Mini event.

Yeah, I remember your car quite well. Amazing modifications have been done to that car. You'd never guess it was a '79 model from looking at the interior. I don't plan to ever go quite that extensive with mine, but it's nice to see what can be done with these cars.

First of all, I didn't know it snowed in Arkansas. Secondly, you didn't waste much time with a new paint job!!!! I remember reading the "new purchase" thread not all that long ago. Did you have all (if any) rust removed first or was this more an Earl Shive? What kind of steering wheel did you order?

It's rare, but it happens. And apparently, it happens a lot here lately! 13" Tuesday of last week, then another 6" Thursday. Weird I know...

And yes, we did jump right to getting him spiffied up. That old color was just wearing on me. It's great for some people and that's fine, but I needed something a little less... blah? We did have the rust taken care of before it was painted. And fortunately, he didn't have much rust in the first place anyway.

The steering wheel we ordered was the "Mountney M Range deluxe" from Mini Mania. With the lack of power steering, at low speeds his hard thin wheel is just a bit uncomfortable.

Hey Rvexotics,

Very nice and rapid make-over! I like the blue 20x better than the original. There is talk amongst KC MINI/mini club members to do an Arkansas road trip/gathering someday. Possibly to Eureka Springs. If your household has enough pilots, you could show up in triplicate.

That'd be excellent! Since we weren't able to make it to the meeting when we were there to get Bosley, it'd be great to get to meet you guys anyway. Just let me know when you'd be coming down.
