She's here!! I drove her around a little. Needs brake work, gets a little warm and needs new wipers (they're a hoot though LOL) but she's awesome. My dad broke the drivers seat when he was driving it home. :( I still gotta get used to driving her.
Shame on your dad for breaking the seat (unless he's funding your maintenance
).
Running hot? Maybe the little mustard seed needs a new thermostat or if it's consistantly warm, the radiator core probably needs flushed or "rodded out". Both of these are simple matters.
Or... you might call Britannia Rescue. They might offer an international plan. Instead of 40 minutes, it's forty days. Ok, bad joke--just kiddin'
Looking forward to seeing the little rascal someday!

Does it have an electric fan or just the mechanical one running off the fan belt? Ideally you should have the mechanical fan (which runs as long as the motor's running) and the electric fan, which switches on via thermostat when the car warms up. Mine only comes on when I'm sitting in traffic - when I'm actually rolling at speed the temp drops to just below the mid-point and the electric fan shuts off. In warm climates like ours, you really should have the electric fan.
Also, they make something called a Tropical Fan kit that people speak highly of - it's designed to move more air across the radiator, but I hear it's a tad nosier:
Original Fan (likely the one you have):

I don't know about the fan but she has a HUGE water leak. She peed all over my garage floor. Oh, and my dad fixed the seat... He broke a weld so the seat laid flat instead of staying upright so he decided to fix the weld by welding it back together and ended up catching the seat on fire O.O Seat is fine though...

Welcome to Classic Mini ownership! Sounds like you and your dad will fit right in!
So it's the water pump not doing the job that caused the warm temps... Good deal... that should be a pretty minor fix.
Hey MINIxB, this is a bit off topic, but since you're a new owner (so am I--kind of) you might be interested in glancing at the websites for the two British mini magazines, MiniWorld and MiniMagazine. At minimagazine, they have several staffers with "project" minis. I found it interesting and humorous to read about their ownership experiences with recently acquired minis.

I have a downpayment on one.
Details are still sketchy so I think I'll wait a bit before i say more. One thing for certain, it's undergoing restoration and is unlikely to hit the pavement until next spring.

If it's REALLY a 1977 (not a re-VIN) then it's a MKIV.
