Dustins quick trip to Iowa

Had to make a last min trip to SW Iowa Friday the 22nd and back the 23rd.

On the way there, found the Red Bull in a rest stop, did you know ALL of Iowas rest stops have FREE wifi?

On the way back, I passed, then slowed down to take a pic of a Horse, yes a Horse in a MINI Van Its hard to see in the pics, but trust me these is a horse in the back area of this MINI van. Look at the far right side of back window, the white strip is the face of the Horse

Cool rock just over a mile south of 80 at state road 25, which is west of DSM.

I really enjoyed Iowa's rolling hills, and the pork!

I'll have to keep an eye out for the rock next time I'm over that way. Must have been one PO'ed horse when they let it out.

The van was pulling a trailer with a buggie for harness racing.

Small horse, warm and out of the wind, nice view, If they managed to convince the horse to get in the van, he must not mind. I hope he had a diaper on.

When I was a kid, a friend used to transport his Shetland Pony by having it stand sideways between the rows of seats in the family VW Micro Bus. For short rides you just held the (female) pony's tail down and she would not make a mess in the car.

I've spent some time in the saddle and it was too big to be a Shetland, could not get a great view, but it filled the back of the short wheelbase Mini van.

I hope they had the diaper or something on the floor of the van.

I thought I'd seen everything untill I saw a Horse in the back on a MINI VAN.

Hey did you go to Des Moines? Stop by Rube's or the lumber Yard?

That would be "Iowa 80" just west of Davenport. Now that's a strange place in the middle of the night. For that matter it's pretty interesting at lunch or breakfast time. Seems all the buses stop there. We were there eating once and someone was playing one of the video games, it kept saying "don't slow down..." then would sound like a semi horn. Whenever we speak of that truck stop we yell "Don't Slow Down!". Ah yes, the life of an artist - weird!

We were just at Iowa 80 on Monday, around 6:20 pm for a light dinner of vanilla shakes and blizzards. It does indeed have a weird client base. 5 hours from West Des Moines to Central Lake Co., IL. A new land speed "record" even with registering 29.4 mpg for the R/T.

yea, if there is relatively little traffic, its amazing what the cruise control over a flat straight road will do mileage-wise.
