Mod Party?

Is anyone interested in having a little party sometime soon? I have been bugging my bf to open his shop to us for a night. I have yet to meet anyone here - I didn't make any runs this summer I'd like to do a pulley on my car and spend some quality time detailing. He has lifts if anyone needs to do undercar work, oil changes & etc, or just a warm place to detail your car. He can also help with some repairs as long as they're not really long jobs. It's a full service shop, so he'll have everything handy. We hang out here all the time with other friends, so why not? You can bring your own stuff (parts, oil, whatever) or he has it here. If you need help finding stuff, one of us can. I work for a parts store and get it way cheaper than if you ordered it (parts from dealers too!).

Maybe a Sat night? The store is open til 3(ish) but we can meet early evening? Depending on how busy the shop is that day, he should have room for 6 people.

there's another thread that was started asking about a mod party also. unfortunately not a whole lot of interest (maybe b/c of the season??) right now.

the next OFFICIAL club gathering is the gokarting event on JAN 27. drop by to meet a bunch of us there maybe we can ask around at that time to see if anyone else is interested in a mod party as well.

it doesn't have to be a club event... just a bunch of MINI people helping each other out

Hey.. tell you what... why don't we start a thread for a Spring MOD party and see who's interested.. I can make it a sticky on the forum and see who else is interested.

From what I can remember.. there were possibly 2-3 other people interested in installing a pulley (unless they've done so already)...

Right now, I'm looking at getting a new set of tires for my MCC and would probably need a lift to easily swap tires.

what do you think?? lemme know

I think it's a great idea. Just set a date, post it and see what happens. Based on the date I will try to make some kind of offer on parts my suppliers offer too.

Is the shop in Lindenhurst too? I might be interested... Thinking rear sway bar. Chances are I'll probably have my pulley/intake installed by then.

The shop is in Gurnee. Grand and Almond (just east of 45). I'd rather do it sooner than spring. We can probably do one then too but I'd like to do it in the next few weeks. My car really needs to be cleaned. If I'm there all night one night, why not a few others who could use the space? Maybe Sat the 26th? Or the following Sat? What a better weekend for all of you?

He has a few different pulley pullers, so hopefully one will work. I bought the oil filter wrench kit so that will be there. And he has everything to do a sway bar.

MiniMac... what kind of tires are you looking for? He is also a tire shop and sells all tires to people I send him at $10 over cost. Even if you buy them off tirerack.com he'll give you reccomendations. I just put Eagle F1 All Seasons on for the winter. They are awesome tires but were pretty pricey even at his cost.

I still want to install a 15% pulley on my car. Ideally, I'd like to have someone around who has done one to help coach those of us who are novices.

WOW... have you hacked into my 'puter I've really been looking at those in 205/45-17 ... I was about to call TireRack tomorrow for more info... I'm also in the market for a set of 17" rims on the cheap as well. was originally going to get summer tire, but those Eagle F1 might work better for me. We need to talk

Well, I love the tires. We originally planned on putting BFG Blizzaks on for the winter. Then we saw they were the same price as the F1s. I'll put the OE Pirellis back on in the spring, but once they are worn out, I can use the F1's year round. The Blizzaks are only snow tires. The F1s got a real test when I drove through a blizzard in Bull Valley. PM me and we can talk more so tires don't over take this thread

We can wait 'til early Feb to meet... Or we'll just meet a couple days!! With out drag racing season, we don't know what to do with ourselves! The more car stuff in the winter to keep ourselves busy, the better!

We haven't done them on MINI's before, but he has to learn on mine. Having a shop full of tools helps too. I'll look up procedures in the next few days and see if there are any special tools or info needed. Otherwise, it should be fairly simple and he will help.

Yes you need special tools, yes I've done the install on my MINI without issue, yes I have some of them and ways around some of the others, yes I've got a Bentley manual, yes I've offered in other threads to assist/coach with a mod day.

Webb has scaled his bit back quite a bit.

I know for a fact we can get Detroit Tuned to come out if we can get a date set.

And we've had other tuners stop by for visits in the past as well.

I'd wait a few more days/weeks for a pulley install if Detroit Tuned could do it on that night. My Webb pulley has shipped but it's not here yet.

I've got an Invidia on order too, but not through the group buy. Depending on when mine comes it that could be a possibility too. Isn't it just bolt-on with the factory hangars (provided you don't have a convertible)?

BtyMINI --

Any chance of an alignment rack at your BF's shop. Looking to install coilovers from M7 tuning, along with a larger rear sway bar. - my 22mm is slightly undersized for my interest. I have the tools for the SC pulley removal and install, as well as the crank pulley removal and installation tool. I'd be more than willing to bring them out. All I need to know is a time and date. My racing season doesn't start til 4/28, so I'm bored as hell!!!!

Hi Everyone!

I have talked to Gabe a few times about doing installs out there, but nothings has been set up yet. last night Motor On asked if i wanted to come, and i was like "i would totally love to!". all we need to do is set up a date and time, and have a place to do it. hopefully something with heat at this time of year. i would love to come out and have some fun in Chicago. so if some one could do a bit of leg work and find a place, we could start a list and make it happen. you guys let me know when you want me and I'll being the show on the road. most everything is open, but the weekend of Feb 16th is booked.

That's awesome news. I think the thread originator has the requisite space and has suggested a Saturday night in the coming weeks as a time slot. I'm definitely on board for a pulley/intake and maybe more if you come down.

Just a thought but could make it the car show in the morning and wrenching in the evening on Saturday Feb 9th. The shop is only a couple of minutes off 94.

Just throwing a date and an idea out there.
