Place to get my mini cleaned and detailed
i don't think i could ever trust anyone else to actually detail my car - they just can't do it like i would (unless it was another mini owner of course) i suggest the quick detailing tips on the north american car care (left side of nam home page) i've been reading/posting here for a few months now and just discovered this section of nam the other day - really good tips i might say!
Me too. I am too picky to let a bloke get near my car and wash it with a rag that probably has been used 1000 times already.
I enjoy washing and detailing my ride. It is stress relief therapy if you ask me!
ATN57: Make sure to hit the Icefields Parkway between Banff and Jasper (Route 93). We drove it 2 months ago (In a rental Toyota Corolla, augh!) and it has to be one of the most beautiful roads in the world (Well it is the highest above sea level in North America).
That road was built for the MINI!
I envy you!

I would be hard pressed to fine a good detailer here where I live...I mean they'll tell you anything, but I just don't know for a faact they'll ever take the time, devote the attention, and use the products that I do....and a screw up could be catastrophic!!! Still, in a colder climate, finding such a place might be a necessity. Soliciting references, here and w/ other local car clubs, is a good start...good luck in your search!!
My '03 MCS is the same color as yours and I have to admit I have never washed it, ever. Or paid anyone to wash it. And no one has ever said a thing
DS hides dirt, but wonder why only the front wheels are anthracite/gunmetal?

It's not as bad as it sounds
. The car has gone to the dealer for some minor problem or maintenance ~monthly so it has been washed for free each time. And I wax it afterwards if it's not raining when I pick up the car. When my warranty runs out I suppose I'll have to actually start washing it too
.
So have you considered the dealer:smile:?

Oh where to start
Take the car to a wand wash and do it yourself, if you don't have a place to wash it. Most cities have ones that charge by time, so you can do what you need to do.
A full detailing is going to cost some big coin, if you go to a GOOD detailing shop. If you do find one, make sure they show you what they use on the car.
If they look at you funny when you mention micro fibre towels, move on.
DON'T let the dealer do it. They use old rags to wipe down the car. They will put swirls in the finnish, and who knows what else.
The odd time I have let the dealer do it in the winter, I tell them spray it down, but don't wipe it, or dry it.
A real touch-less car wash is not bad. As long as its one of the new Lazer washes. No flapping brushes. Nothing touches the car but soap & water.
Best thing, go to the detailing forum here on NAM, and figure out how to do it yourself

Whao...thought I...that's so cool, so I went up to check them out.
Ooops...it was all brake dust. It was a very nice look though I must say.So if MINI wheels are filthy, can we not just say they have a "patina"??
Alternatively, if you lack time and have money to spend....your MINI dealer can detail your car....

However, like others on this thread, I do my own car cleaning and detailing. I can take a few hours though and some of my neighbours think I'm nuts.

Just go to a wand wash. I use them all the time, cost 3 bucks, 4 at the most to wash the car. Get a good drying towel. Just don't use the foaming brushes, there is lots of grit in them. I use a sheepskin washing mitt, that I use after the car is all soaped up.
Well....if you really must do it yourself....

...oops sorry. Just noticed the locations are only in BC. There might be similar places in Alberta.

My mini is so fresh and so clean now all thanks to Martin!
He was nice enough to let me use his driveway and cleaning supplies to clean my mini. Again thanks for everything. Lets go motoring when you get some time.
Thanks!
