Hello fellows, new member here with a 2010 cooper S clubman.


Picked up a used one just past summer and now I believe I have the infamous death rattle with check engine light on.


First can anyone suggest a shop for tensioner?


Live in New Market, should I tow or drive to the shop?


What's the normal rate for the job? 1k with parts? Just the tensioner or there is other things I need?


Anything else to replace while I am at it?


I do aware of the issue after I got the car, oil change every 6k and keep the oil lvl high. Oh well.

 

If you haven't done so already, call a dealership and have them run your VIN number against their data base to see if you have any outstanding recall work that needs to be done. I bought my 2009 Cooper S used and had everything witht the timing chain and high pressure fuel pump done for no cost.

As for a shop.. I can't help you sorry
