Very nice !!
And CR always comes out a bit orangish when pics are taken in direct sunlight. It comes out best when pics are taken on a cloudy day or when the sun is not so strong.... early morning or late in the day.
We did our first top-down motoring in about 4 months today. Nothing like it !

We drove 30min to the dealer on the interstate, but took an hour's drive home on the backroads, all topless.....the winter package is nice on a crisp spring day! It's raining now, and will rain all weekend, so I'm glad we took FRI afternoon to get some "openometer" time.

If you get a chance can you take a picture of the engin bay and the underside of the hood. I'm curious to see if they've put any special heat sheild to eliminate the warping of the bonnet cover... Can you also take a closeup of the bonnet cover to see how many holes it has in the honeycomb?
Also, let us know if you experience the Cold Start issue tomorrow morning if you start the car after a brisk night.

Took this at the dealer....the sales rep said the silver area on the left side of the photo (front right part of the engine) would get hot from the turbo....not sure if this is any different from the earlier turbo models, you'll have to tell me. If needed, I'll get a better pict tomorrow when I count the bonnet cover holes.
Min is also on the boat, and should be at the VPC on the 7th of April, and in my hands a few days later. Dealer has to install a bunch of JCW options and the sport strips.
I also went to my dealer this morning, and they had 3 launch vehicles, a IY S Convertible with the JCW Body Kit, a Blue/Brown Convertible, and a White S Convertible. I got to test drive the IY S Convertible for about 30 minutes, and it's absolutely awesome.
On thing I have to agreed with the New York Time carticle, is that the rear visibility with the top down is just ok, however with the top up, it is much better.
I took about 30 pictures, which I'll post later tonight if I can.

Congratulations. As far as I am concerned there are no other MINIs other than the convertible. I know, what a bad attitude, but it's the truth in my mind.
I drive my 2006 with the top down on a cold winter night. Heater is blasting, I have on a hat and heavy jacket (that I keep in the back seat at all times), and the seat warmer is on. I love those times, driving on a star lit night in 40 degree weather. (No one else shares my pleasure. All the girls tolerate it for about five minutes and then say the top goes up or I'm not getting.... you know the rest.)
Good to see you got the red. I am not biased mind you.
I am selling my low miles 2006 (should have about 32,000 miles when I sell it) in about six months so to get the 2009.
Keep us updated on everything, so I know what to look out for, etc.
Sidenote: Good to see they have not changed the style much. My 2006, to the uninformed, still looks like the latest model.

We went to our dealer, Cincinnati Mini, today for their convertible open house. We test drove again - for the 7th time. My MA checked and found that our new Mini is going to be built this Thursday, April 2. He said we should have it in 4-5 weeks.
If I sell my 2006 in June that will give the new owner a full year of the factory warranty.
Damn NAM, putting money-costing ideas into my head.

Query: Do you all mind saying what you are paying for your MINI convertible?
I went online to East Bay MINI (Pleasanton, CA) and they had a non-S at $30,000 and an S at $35,000.
Is that because they are "rare" right now?
Since they did not in the past dicker on MINIs all that much, I can't see those prices being reasonable in this economy.
They say that MINI sales are down 34%, those asking prices don't indicate such.
(Oh, the non-S had the premium package and an automatic. No cold weather package. The $32,000 non-S had the cold weather package.)
Here is the Site for the S:

Non-S:

Sidenote: If they are asking those kinds of prices I guess that's a good thing as I can get more for mine.

I ordered my 2009 S Convertible from East Bay Mini, but I placed the deposit 11 months ago, and they agreed to MSRP, with discounts on each of the dealer installed options (ie. JCW Aero, JCW Bonnet, etc...). Regardless of what the web site says, I'd recommend you go in person and talk to them. I'm sure they'll give you a much better deal than what you see on their web site, considering you'll be a repeat Mini owner.
My MA was Jesse Antonio, and he's great to work with.
BTW, my Mini will be around the $40K becuase it's just about fully loaded (check the signature).
