Halloween In The Smokies

We have been invited to join the Smokey Mountain Mini group in their Halloween Drive through the mountains on October 29, 2005. They usually have dinner and then after dark they drive their decorated cars through the mountains while listening to the sounds of Halloween music. I don't have all of the details at this time but would like to get a idea of how many would be interested in going. Please let me know if you have an interest in this trip.

Thanks PEP for digging up the thread from last year. I thought about going last year and didn't but I'm really looking forward to going this year.

Yes

Bea and I would likely join in.

See you on Saturday at Palomar/Keeneland.

Gatlinburg was a car-driver's nightmare after the 2004 Dragon. I would think long and hard about going into that pit of mini-vans.

Updated Info

The drive will begin in Gatlinburg at the mysterious Greenbrier Restaurant. I should know room prices by tomorrow. This date is considered peak season so neogiating rates is not an easy task. At this time our best options seem to be the Grand Hotel and Convention Center in Pigeon Forge orThe Smoky Shadows Motel & Conference Center in Pigeon Forge. Let me know any suggestions or ideas that you have. I am going to reserve a block of 10 rooms by the weekend. Please let me know if you plan to attend.

Who would like to volunteer to map a route from Lexington to Pigeon Forge????

I vote for the Smoky Shadows place. Sounds spooky.

I also vote for a direct route to Pigeon Forge. Drive the twisties when we get there.

It seems that this is the time of the year when the Smokies don't need to give special rates for groups. My family is staying at the Mainstay Suites on Pine Mountain Road in Pigeon Forge. I've always had good experiences with this chain of hotels. The Creekstone Inn has very reasonable rates but I think the hotel might be a little dated. I found www.dkhotels to have some of the best rates for the area. If you want to stay at the Mainstay go to www.choicehotels.com and get the internet users rates. I'm sorry that I couldn't get a block of rooms with a nice hotel.

I am really glad you guys are coming. We had so much fun last year. I have the route complete and the music mostly done.

I noticed someone's concern about Gatlinburg traffic.....that is actually 1/2 the fun. People on the street are in costume and trick or treating in the stores. They really enjoyed our Haunted MINI/Mini parade. We made two passes last year, up and down the parkway and that actually was a bit much. This year the drive will have one pass through at the end.

Be sure and RSVP before October 21 for dinner and drive OR drive only. The restaurant, of course, needs a count and we have to be prepared with the music. You can let me know here in this thread or go to our discussion board for the thread here http://smmcc.proboards31.com/index.c...ead=1122428462
We would be glad to have you register on the Proboard to post but guests may post also.

Be sure and let me know how many will be in your car and if you will be doing dinner and drive OR drive only.

Donna

queenB,
I think my wife and I are among the victims listed on the forum. I guess I'd better check with MiniMouse. We will be having dinner.

Going to Halloween Express tonight!

The Misses and I now have costumes. I'm going to finalize the MINI's costume this weekend. It's going to be a theme...

I can't wait!

Most of the time we claim him.

I don't know if he's on the list MiniMouse gave you or not.

I was just checking as we are at capacity for the restaurant. We are also at 29 cars for the drive. Two are counterfeits and I think 4 classics. Now I'm getting scared. I just hope I can get all of us back from the dark and spooky side together.

Why don't you guys give me your first names individually for our count (and for our trick or treat bags).

By the way, when are you guys coming down. I did the final test drive Saturday night. Traffic coming in on 66 to Sevierville from I-40 is a nightmare this time of year. I might be able to give you some advice, based on what time and day you are coming in.

Wow, 29 cars! That's awesome!

I don't have MiniMouse's list, but we are Jason and Ambie and we'll be in a PW/B Cooper.

Ambie has insisted we play a round of HillBilly Golf, so I think the group will be there early afternoon.

We could hit 40 Meanies on this drive. I think this puts us at 35 now.

Oops....this was Donna (queenB) not David.

Yes
Hamburg Shopping Center in the Meijers parking lot on the side across from the Backyard Burger restaurant. Man-O-War exit (#108) off of I75 South. We leave at 9:00 am. I think...I will be very sleepy.

Excellent sig picture, by the way.

The Hairy-Handed Gent (who ran amok in Kent) and The Little Old Lady that Got Mutilated Late Last Night had an absolute blast!

I am glad all of you came and we really enjoyed your costumes and cars too.

I borrowed some of Angel's (the devil car) pictures from the ATL site and put them in the SMM thread here http://smmcc.proboards31.com/index.c...2428462&page=6 Some good shots.
