Thanks. I'm REALLY looking forward to meeting my 2 daughters in November.
My wife is going to start driving the MINI and I'll use the Subaru to cart the kids to and from daycare.

LMAO, I'd forgotten I even posted this! Yeah I've joined QLD clubMINI and been to a couple of runs. haven't made the last couple but really enjoyed what I've been to so far. There's an autocross this weekend that I was hoping to go to but unfortunately don't have the money. ah well, next one.
Spent a month in Darwin, three weeks in Brisbane, couple of months in Sydney, weeks in Canberra and a delightful several weeks in Puckapunyal. Have a couple of good friends in the antipodes and can see the rabbit in the moon. Does that qualify me for honorary membership?

Puckapunyal - army?
Army, yes. Pucka is about an hour North of Melbourne. The post is nice, but the training area is like all of them no matter where you are in the world. Except at Pucka, I came out of a building at dusk and when I turned the corner heading to the parking lot, I cam within five meters of a kangaroo that stood up and looked at me. I looked up to him--and slowly backed around the corner and waited until he had moved on. The 'roos' were like wild cattle around there. Saw small herds of them in the pastures all the time.
Got a chance to visit your Eucalyptus forests, Bendigo, and many other neat areas in that part of Oz (hope you don't mind an outlander using your pet terms). I really do like Australia.
The rabbit in the moon is what my hosts told me they saw when looking at a full moon. I am convinced I can see one there. In the N. hemisphere, we have the man in the moon. I am now wondering whether I was taken for a ride by your countrymen.

Sounds like the roos are pretty tame there - but I reckon he'd have moved off if you went closer. The problem is when you're travelling 100kmh when you meet them!
Funny, I never thought of the moon looking different from north and south - come to think of it, I don't think I've ever seen the moon while I've been in the northern hemisphere, only starts, which are very different. Sometimes these things can be localized, so I don't know if they were taking you for a ride or not. I'll have to see if I can find the rabbit!

G'day! I am coming down to Cairns, Australia in two weeks. I just wanted to find out if ther are any mini cooper clubs or mini cooper events coming up between the 21st and 26th of November in Far North Queensland? I spend a bit of time down in Cairns. Wanted to do something different so will be renting a mini in Cairns and motoring around the tablelands and maybe down to Townsville. See ya, Motor On!

Not many Aussies on this forum. I suggest you drop a line on the MINI2 forum - it has an Australian section which is pretty active: http://www.mini2.com/forum/australia/
There are certainly some Queensland MINIs there, but all the ones I can see are Brisbane or Gold Coast, which is 1200 miles south of where you'll be! Still, they should know if there's anyone around Cairns or Townsville.
Sorry I can't be more help. I'm in Melbourne, 2500 miles south. I've never even been to Cairns! (Thinks: must go there some day...) From the southern states, it's often cheaper to holiday on a Pacific island like Fiji or Tahiti rather than Cairns!

Thanks pw4 for info. Have been through Melborne a couple times; mostly lay-overs at airport. Had a friend that worked for Telstra in Melbourne, a couple years ago. Never had much time to see Melbourne. Maybe I can to get down there later this year.
I'll be in Sydney a couple days in about a week and then head up to Cairns. My wife gets 'island fever' and Australia, is alot closer than the U.S. madland. I'll check out the mini2.com forums. See ya,

Absolutely!
(The Fosters possibly depends on which part of Australia you're in
)
Whereabouts are you visiting?
Also - Hertz rents MINIs (Cooper S - autos I think) in Australia now, at quite sensible rates.

. Real Aussies drank VB (Victoria Bitters) or Old Toohey's.
So we drank the approiate brand by the buckets (that's bouquet
).
