I want to buy a Mini

Hello everyone-

I'm looking to buy a used (2002-2004) non S Mini. I live in southern Arkansas and am having a hard time finding the "right" car.

Anyone have a good lead?

Thanks
Jeff

Check the Ebay listings for used MINIs. I remember seeing several in Northern LA, around Shreveport I think. There are also MINI dealerships in Memphis, Nashville, OK City, Dallas, Ft. Worth, and Baton Rouge. Their CPO is phenomenal - 6 years, 100k mi warranty. I know the one in Memphis (Roadshow) has several used MINIs on their lot right now.

Get on Autotrader.com and put all your specifications in and your location and it will come up with a list of available cars. We did that and found an '06 in Rogers that we bought.

Caldwell Toyota in Conway has a regular cooper convertible, not sure of the details. I'd check Autotrader, cars.com as well.

Yeah, not too cheap. Looks like they're wanting $23,7 for it and it's an '05. Beautiful car though!

Thanks for the leads everyone!

I've been checking the usual supsects (ebay, autotrader, cars.com, craigslist for various cities) and really haven't found what I'm looking for. I've only been looking for a few weeks, so I guess I need to be more patient.

I really am looking forward to getting one!

Jeff

I know you said non-S, but I noticed this one when I passed by this morning. We could almost be twinkies.

I would also check the web sites of car dealers in the range you are willing to go. You never know, they may have one that fits your wants. I know there's a dealer in Memphis who sales used ones, gossett motors. Not sure of their web site or the exact name of the dealer.

Thanks for the tip Free Spirit. I found the Gossett motors web site and they do have an '05 MCS for sale.

I see where you list a Duc on your signature? I have a 750 Monster too, along with a '69 Alfa Spider and '56 Triumph TR3. Neither of the cars are on the road right now (undergoing a looong restoration) hence my desire for a Mini. It's been too long since I drove something sporting!

I have a 2002 Mini for sale

Hi,
I just purchased a new mini and have mine for sale. It is a 2002 Cooper, 5 speed manual, Liquid yellow and white, sun roof with all the options. I is just getting broken in with 99,107 miles on it. I would not be selling except for the new purchase. I love this car so much that I named it after my father and would like to see him go to a good home. I am asking $12,500 or OBO for it. I have pictures if you will send me your email address or you can contact me at (479) 234-1351. Hope this is what you are looking for!

My husband has a S4R Monster. I too have a loooong restoration in process with a 69 RS Camaro. He will be thrilled to hear there's another Duc in the state. There are so few. A guy in Hot Springs owns one too.

Maybe win a new one instead?

I recently saw a contest to win one at www.winanew.com. Might be interesting, as entry is only $10. Most of the car raffles/etc, are usually more like $50 - $75, which is out of my price range for a contest.

Hello Gbishop-

I'm going to look at one tonight in Greenville MS of all places. It's a 2003 BRG listed for $14,995 with 47,000 miles on it. It is exactly what I was looking for (non-s, one owner, within my budget, no stripes or other attention grabbing paint colors), except the CARFAX report says it was registered in a county in MS that was declared a disaster area by FEMA. This particular county only had tornadoes, not floods.

I plan to do a thorough inspection to look for flood damage and will hopefully use the CARFAX report as a negotiating tool if there is no flood damage. They probably won't like me pulling the carpet out of it, but that's the only way to tell for sure.

Not a terrible price, but for a 5 year old MINI, and an MC, I think I would try to get them lower even if there is no flood damage. I've seen '02s and '03s on Ebay for easily $12-13k. Also, make sure to research the issues those early models had. Apparently there were some problems with things overheating, leaking, rattling (then again, what MINI doesn't rattle at least a little?), etc. Just some friendly words of warning. There are, of course, plenty of '02s and '03s still motoring strong!

Used MINI Bargains

Take a look at Luxury Imports Of Orlando. They go to the car sales weekly and frequently find great deals on MINIs. I am working on a deal now with them. Tell them what you are looking for and they will find it.

Have you found one yet? There's a MC convertible in Conway. Blue. 49K miles (I think) and asking $19 something. It's a FSBO.

Got Mine!

I picked up a nice Black/Laser Blue S MT 4500 miles, rear fogs, Premium pkg, flame spokes, leatherette, Blue colorline, at a good price. My local dealer was very disappointed! I found it 125 miles from home. It was worth the drive.

Got mine too!

It's an '03 BRG. Paid what I thought was a reasonable price and I am really enjoying it.

Thanks to all for your suggestions and hope to see you on the road-

Jeff
