mirror cap installation

Anybody out there have experience with changing out the mirror caps? I'm going to do it today with this http://www.mini2.com/forum/faq.php?s...l&titlesonly=0 as a guide.

Any advice or tips?

It may be too late for Mark, since they're at RS today, but if you want accessories that you could install yourself, including rubber floor mats, mirror caps, etc..don't get them at Roadshow. Morristownmini.com , a dealer in NJ has lots of stuff for about 20% off. the regular $110 set of rubber floor mats for example are $88, roof rack is about $188 (instead of $235). Mud flaps are 18 for front, 28 for rear. Of course you'll have to take shipping costs into consideration but its worth checking into. Mini 'stuff' is so expensive I'm always checking around. The bumper protector at Morris is $34 and they have clear or black. Roadshow wants $50 for the bumper protector and they only have black, plus $50 for installation. I'd bet I could do it myself.

As an afterthought, it's also possible maybe if you know Morristown's price, you could ask Roadshow to match it? If they don't then get it at Morristown?

there is a thread (search it) but the best way is to pop off thr mirror first , them the cap clips can be easily removed ... pull from the bottom of the mirror...

Yep, the thread, I believe it was started by ImagoX, has very good instructions.

When you get the mirrors off by pulling on them at the bottom, just reach in with your thumb and forefinger and squeeze each clip. Start at the bottom and work your way around. Presto, cap off. New one just snaps right into place as does the mirror. Done.

Five minutes per mirror cap, at the most. Once you've done a few sets, two minutes per mirror cap.

Union Jack mirror caps installed and look awesome

Thanks to those who posted the guide to switching mirror caps and all those who verified the process, I followed the directions and was able to switch my factory black mirror caps with Union Jack mirror caps in about 5 minutes total. They look awesome on my chili red with black stripes 2009 mini cooper (Ruby Tuesday).
Thanks again to all, Trevor
