IPod/Driving Playlists

I love go drive (hence the purchase of a MINI). So I was curious as to what everyone's playlist/songs are while playing?

Right now I'm rocking out a little AC/DC Back in Black, Who gonna drive you home - The Cars. And (I'm ashamed to admit it) Styx - Renegade.

thought this would be fun

I listen to either classic rock, 94.1; country KSSN, Air One 96.1 (when I can get it good) or my own cds which is a lot of Christian rock. My daughter is with me a lot so we listen to her cds as well, classic rock and some new stuff.

My ipod is very diverse. From White Stripes & Smashing Pumpkins to Nancy Sinatra and Johnny Cash. Right now I am listening to the new Scorpions songs - can you believe they have a new cd out?

I'm a cross between classic rock and 80's new and dark wave music. When I was in college it was the music we all listened to. Sometimes a little Smith's, Oingo Boingo, Pixies, and Echo and the Bunnymen. Other times I like to listen to Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, The Who, ACDC, etc. Lately, I have found an interest in classical. Go figure. One genre I have not figured out is rap. It is interesting but I just can't seem to get into it.

Anyway... Angie, this monkeys gone to heaven so rock me Amadeus.

But what is the ultimate driving song?

I find that Cold Hard Bi*** by Jet gets me weaving in and out.

"Ultimate driving song!" Man, now that's a real challenge . . . think for me it depends on the mood. How about Springsteen's "Born to Run" for starters?

Would have to skip the AC/DC (sorry, will admit it's good stuff but 100,000+ times heard growing up and just burned out on it still); otherwise, it's scary how closely that list exactly mirrors what's playing in my MINI at any given moment, plus some Elvis Costello, REM, and some "newer" things like Wilco, the Walkmen, some old school reggae, 80s punk/ska and some "world" music.

Glad there's still someone out there who listens to Oingo Boingo 'sides me . . . 'cause I'm "Only a Lad" . . ..

The thing I remember about the Scorpions is that (like most bands/performers that don't speak English as their first language), you can understand their English song lyrics perfectly, but if you hear them interviewed in English, you can hardly make out a word they're saying!

(I think Jim Carrey did a skit about this particular phenomenon, but I can't find it right now.)

Tubthumping - Chumbawumba
Forever Man - Eric Clapton
Life is a Highway - Rascal Flatts
Paradise City - Guns N Roses
Dreams - Van Halen
Midnight Flyer - Eagles
Under Cover of the Night - Rolling Stones
I Know a Little - Lynyrd Skynyrd
Don't Look Back - Boston
Gimme Some Lovin' - Spencer Davis Group

You have to include "Radar Love" by Golden Earring.

I just bought an ITunes Essential Collection - Late Night Driving Music, it's actually pretty good. I find myself jamming out to "In the Air Tonight" by Phil Collins.... slightly embarrasing. Also, "Breathe Me" by Sia.... mind you, it's late night driving music.
