Roll call
I will be heading down to vegas around 1am on friday. In time to join the temple bar run at 9am. Staying till sunday for the valley of fire run and driving right back. Anybody wants to join me for a caravan from LA ?
I'm planning on being there (in case you were wondering) and if you keep a sharp eye out, you might spot the babies wandering (well, being pushed) around too. Have to contact some of the vinyl guys about installing stripes on the stroller.
I'm planning to go but nothing registered yet .. (need to tell the new boss about vacation too!).
It's a 525 mile trip for me from San Jose and it'll be Avery's first time out of California and his longest trip away from home. It'll be a blast!

About 12.5 hours for us, taking the scenic "major fun Mini" route, and a stop over in Pahrump to visit Becky's folks.
580 Miles. Shorter if Tioga Pass through Yosemite opens early, but we're not counting on that.

The thing we hate about 99, is how crappy it is near Bakersfield. Also, on I-15 coming back from Vegas, is a freaking agro inspection center that sometimes backs up for miles. Lastly, Becky's folks have warned us of construction work along I-15 that will have lanes closed in March.
...I'm also wondering if there's going to be a sign-up thread to hug Batgirlwildcat this year.
Not likely, as I don't spend time on NAM anymore... but indeed there will still be hugs.
Gromit (and anyone else coming from the direction of the Bay area), here's a suggestion.
From Delano (on 99) shoot east on 155 to Lake Isabella and then curl around to 178 to Ridgecrest. IIRC, 155 west of the lake (we actually did it east to west in a minivan on a family vacation to Sequoia from Vegas) had some good twisties. I define good as anytime my wife says to slow down more than once while hanging on
From Ridgecrest go back north on Trona road (Pit of the Earth) and then east through Death Valley. We're not hosting a DV run this year so if you're interested there's your chance

Nice route, except we don't want to be on 99 at all.
I am 2323 miles if you drive the most direct route, but I am stopping over in Chicago to visit friends.. does that count to the official mileage?
