Effing Palace Station. I'm sorry Agro. That's really bush league of them.
That ticks me off. They have a totally empty garage except for the MINIs. They'd have several hundred less rooms full if it were not for you and the Sin City MINI club doing this. I know moving the event is a royal PITA, but it's at least worth considering.
I've stayed at Mandalay for a very similar rate to the tower room, but I know the courtyard deal is popular. They have a huge parking garage, a large convention space and it's at the end of the strip. I wonder if there's a chance...an outside chance, that there's a deal that can be made.
Oh, and being near the strip is important, but right on it, is not. At least for all the folks who travel so far to get there. Multiple days in a car, to stay 40 miles outta Vegas isn't really exciting for me.
Do whatever your gut tells you, though, and price the registration fee accordingly. If it means re-signing with the PS, then...well...swallow hard.
BTW, the early registration deal is a good idea!

+/- 800 people is not a big deal in Vegas. Think thousands for other conventions and we are but MINI.
Actually since this was our first time in Vegas, the strip was pretty cool. Now however we have been there and done that so we would be less needy of a base so close. You can loose money any where in Nevada.

I've even thought that a rotation would be cool. There's MITM, AMVIV, MMMT all in the western US. With the price of things getting out of hand, people will soon have to choose what Mini event they want to go to. No many will be able to make all of them.

Honestly, I'd probably only drive out that far for an event IN Vegas, not the other locations.
Nothing against the others, but I like the unique escapism Vegas offers. I like the option of hitting a $20 buffet and eating king crab and prime rib until I feel like exploding. I like the option of parking my butt at a penny slot, getting free drinks and winning 157 bucks off that fiver, then walking back to my hotel trashed. Come on people its Vegas!
Play hardball with Palace Station on the garage issue if you can Agro. I know the vendors come on narrow margins so asking them to pitch in more for their spaces wouldn't work. Perhaps a small fee for people getting installs done? If not I'd be willing to pony up 5 bucks a day for a spot. It would just be five bucks less I'd gamble at the Palace that day.
The tower rooms are as nice as the rooms at the New York NewYork and Paris. An even lower early booking rate will have me booking as soon as its available.

Yes, it's Vegas, and will always be Vegas. But after every year, there's an itch to do something a little different.
It applies to all of the Mini event venues: MOTD, MITM, etc. Same event, same place. It's why I've always been proponent of a national bash every year, rotate it West, Mid West, East. It'll be something different each year.
The work that the organizers put into these events is not to be taken lightly. It's a huge undertaking, and they pull it off in great style.

Vegas Photos
This year my husband Keith and I were thrilled to have the opportunity after moving last year from NC to AZ to participate in AMVIV. Unfortunately, while at the event I came down with one of the worst colds I have had in years & was unable to participate in much of the event. I left on Saturday morning, but we were able to take some photos of which my husband has posted on our web site.

I also have to say that those that organized the event did a top notch job!
Cheers, Debi

I've got one done!
It is not really a photo, but I've finished editing the first of our videos. I couldn't find a place to host it (120Mb), so I've put it on YouTube for now.
This is the Strip Cruise, filmed with our inboard digital camera. I hope you enjoy.
