Nice shooting Dom. Love that 1st shot of the Dam. I don't think I've ever seen a shot quite like that of that subject. And some fantastic Strip Cruise shots!

No problem, Agro. Just glad that there's people still around with vision to put on such a fantastic event. The most fun I've ever had in Vegas was AMVIV 2008 !!!

The movie of the strip cruise that I'm making with the footage from the in-car camera is looking promising also. Stay tuned people!

I will second that. (and that was our 3rd Vegas trip in 12 months) Already taken the time off for next year.

Going to have to book earlier though my requested garage view wound up being the employee garage.

The room requests are just that, requests. And we have absolutely no control or input into your room location.
Palace wants us to sign a contract for next year's hotel rates NOW, as in this week. I haven't called them back yet. They want to start charging us for use of the parking garage.

Eww... Is it a bunch of money or not so much? It's normally free parking anyhow, so it seems rude to change the deal now. Sure we have exclusive access to teh upper level, but for the money we bring in they should be glad to let us use it. It's not like we're inconveniencing their other patrons overmuch. Even packed with MINIs that place is never really full.

Good luck on your decision. If they want to make a stink, they'd better be prepared to ask themselves if they want to lose the business AMVIV brings to their door. But that's just MY opinion, and in no way reflects what should or will happen. I'm sure you Sin City guys and gals will decide what's best for us all.

The hotel has a bunch of new managers. They looked out the windows and saw all the vendors during the BNB and said "That's a revenue source...how much are we making off that?" which pisses me off when they jumped the hotel rates 30% over last year.
But you know I'm looking out for you guys. I know that it can be an expensive trip and in conversation with the new managers, a possible sliding rate on the rooms was mentioned. If you book early, the rate is less than this year's, 2 months out it's the same as this year, last minute it's more than this year. I think that sounds like a good idea. What do you think?

Might be time for a new venue Andrew. SCCA uses South Point (I know, way off the strip).

BTW, ever get that email I sent you?

I wasn't upset about the view at all I just thought it was funny/ironic.

Sliding room rate sounds cool (I would book in 2 weeks from now anyway). Paying for a free garage doesn't. I for one like the reasonably close proximity to the strip and wouldn't want to be much further away.

One suggestion would be an all car group shot on one of the weekend days. (logistic nightmare)

We actually talked to the South Pointe before we signed with Palace this year (due to the room rate jump) and they basically told us they weren't interested. A pity since though they are a little further from the Strip proper, they basically have their own on and off ramp to I15, and it's a brand new casino.

Hey Argo, what about the Santa Fe (another Station Casino), looks like they have a very large parking lot, and it's close to where a lot of ours went....just my 2 cents..where ever it will be, we'll be there!! Also, my friend is the VP of Promotions for Herbst Casinos....PM if I can be of help.

Steve

Hey, we could host here in Victorville and you wouldn't have to change the acronym!

That have plenty of space, and rooms are cheap, but do you really want to do AMVIV 40 miles out of Vegas?

Coz Mequite is further from Vegas than Primm is.

Santa Fe is not bad, they have more convention space and are newer than Palace (Palace Station was the original "locals casino" in Las Vegas), have decent freeway access. But, they are a LONG way from the Strip, and I know that when I used to come here as a tourist, I wanted to be on or near the Strip. That's kinda what makes Vegas Vegas, and is a big part of the experience. What do you guys think about that?

VP of Promotions at Herbst? (S)He could be a useful person to know.

It would just become AMVOOV - A MINI Vacation Outside Of Vegas.

"A MINI Vacation In Primm" just doesn't have the same Wow! factor.

Personally, the "Vegasness" is totally unimportant to me, so proximity to The Strip is not that big a deal. I know that a lot of people do want to do the Vegas thing, though, so I'd try to keep it somewhere not too far from the strip, if possible.
