I think the bare engine block itself might be the same between the Cooper and the 'S', but there are a LOT of things you would have to add/change if you wanted to put the 'S' supercharger on a Cooper. I know the 'S' pistons are different, perhaps the connecting rods and crankshaft are different as well. Then there's adding an intercooler, changing the pulley configuration, an ECU swap, and who knows what the differences are between the wiring harnesses.
So while you could probably do it, keep in mind that the cost of the supercharger itself is only going to be a small fraction of the total cost of the conversion, between additional parts and labour.
I am adding a Milltek catback, Alta 17% pulley, and Alta CAI to my 04 MCS next weekend. Would this give me some extra oomph? What else would I have to get to make this work properly, bigger injectors? I'm new to all this, so please bear with me.
Thanks!

when I tested the differnce between the old un coated SC and the new coated one on a stock MINI... it was a 5% increase... not much... but was nice to know is there... so this is something to consider...
Bigger injectors wont hurt.. but then you need to tune the car...
also you should consider new plugs for sure... like a 6 or 7 heat range... NGK IK22.... use anti sieze and make sure the yare TQed to 25 ft lbs...
Tuls
Wouldn't the gain of the coating be lost to a chargerer that already had a 17% instead of a 14.8%??????
if I understand what you are asking... yes...I think a 15%... is better than a 17%... LOL... but this is relative to what RPM you will spin it...
however, just to compare apples and apples... a 17% on an old SC is still not as good as a 17% on the new coated one... cause you will still see gains in it's efficency range... if that makes sence
What year did the coated rotors begin?? '05 or '06??

It may have started late 04... but I know for sure by the 05 builds it was there... I was jelous cuase I just missed it... but luckly there were enough JCW swaps that I got a barely used one... :D

Twincharged... so got the stock pulley with the fancy new coated SC reving to 7500 ussually but occasionally to 8500... ahve hit higher by accident... LOL sounded liek a motor cycle
