Feeler vs For Sale
Feeler vs For Sale
Feeler : overture: a tentative suggestion designed to elicit the reactions of others
For Sale: purchasable: available for purchase; "purchasable goods"
Ok, given the above why do people put "Feeler" in obvious "For Sale" posts?

maybe they just want to see if they're gonna get good money for wat they're selling and if they get a good price they sell it.
but then again. like you said. no point in putting feeler.
so basically everyone who puts feeler is gonna sell it. but i guess they're not 100% gonna sell it?
it's a wonder wat people are thinking at times.

Because they know they should post a price on a FS -- by writing 'feeler' you can avoid posting a price, and just say "I'm just trying to get a feel for the market . . . so start your bidding!"
To find any knuckleheads that will pay anything for their something.
Why?
Because most people will not do the research to find what the retail of that something actually is.
How any times have you seen used items for sale at a higher price than what it is new? Go to Ebay - they're there every day. Same as here.
I personally love the Marketplace on NAM - because occansionaly you'll find a really good deal on really good stuff.
My 2 cents.

My definition (right or wrong) of a feeler is to judge interest in what you are "selling." A feeler is judging how much interest from the public is in that object, and too see if the value is worth selling or not.
For example, a feeler for a stock part might be a good idea, as not too many people on here are after stock parts...but it would be stupid to put a feeler up for a Uni-Chip or something of that nature, because it is a product that generally gathers a lot of interest very quickly.
