December 3rd Events Anyone?

Just found this email-
The 3rd of December is shaping up as a smorgasbord of car events:
  1. Trussville Christmas Parade –
Participants need to meet at the Trussville Middle School Elephant / “The Mall” in Trussville at 1:00 PM. Numbers will be assigned to each participant and will need to be picked up at the Trussville Chamber of Commerce by the 30th of November. Our point of contact is John Steger (Red MGB) @ 655-1427 Ext. 105. John will pick up the numbers for you and save you a trip to Trussville. Please let him know if you are going to join the parade so he can get the cars arranged together (e-mail john@hardy-engineering.com). The parade starts at 3:00 and lasts about an hour. The route covers approximately 3 miles.
The parade link:

The application link:

Parade rules:
http://www.trussvillechamber.com/paraderules.pdf
  1. Home for the Holidays – Crestline Village
This is the annual event in Mt. Brook’s-Crestline Village
There is a non-judged car show at Mt Brook City Hall on Church Street. Cars need to arrive between 10:00 AM and Noon. The parade begins at 3:00 PM (you can join the parade if you wish – it’s about 3 or 4 blocks). The parade will need a few convertibles to carry council members and beauty queens. The point of contact is Alan Thacker @ 663- 9299 (Home), 370-1036 (Cell),
or AThackers3@aol.com
If you wish to participate please contact him.
  1. Lotus of Atlanta Track Day – Barber Motorsports Park
If you wish to attend as a spectator at no charge, please contact Beth Wilson at Lotus of America and give her your name so she can notify the security guard to allow you to enter. It’s not too late to register your car to run in the event, but you need to immediately contact Beth to make arrangements. Beth is counting heads for lunch and door prizes so contact her if you plan to attend or participate (404-233-4269 or beth@thebimmerstore.com).
Lotus Cars USA will have some Elise’s and an Exige there and will be happy to take you for a ride around the track. No need to drive to Atlanta if you have an interest in experiencing the Elise up close and personal.
Lee Clark of the Barber Museum should also have a demonstration at lunchtime of one of the Lotus’ from the Barber collection.

Anyone else going?

Sorry, but I have to accompany my wife to one of my favorite events - a wedding. That knocks me out of the parade as I will be sitting quietly watching an innocent young man step into it. I do love a parade though.

Hey yucca, are you going to try and hit the mtn brook parade as well?

Im thinking about:
1. Prep Mini for the show friday night-
2. Go to the morning sessions at barber (in a different car, of course )
3. dash back for the car show and parade
4. go back for the last afternoon sessions.

I just got an email from Alan Thacker. He said he needs cars for the parade, so anyone with a nice car (or a MINI ) come down on saturday.
Lets make this car show worth while!

Wish I could do the car show, the parade, and the track event. . ., but my test drive/ride at Barber is scheduled for 11:00.

I'll see if my wife is interested in the show and maybe I can reschedule my test drive?

Just got back from Barber. . . had some fantastic rides on the track.

1) Porsche Carerra 4
2) Lotus Elise
3) Lotus Exige

The Exige was incredible. The car is one of 3 that Lotus USA currently has for testing before they begin importing them into the country. What an incredible ride. . . the driver from Lotus USA did not baby it one bit and really showed me what this machine can do!

What a great day of free adrenaline!

Glad the weather held out for you and the Lotus, Yucca.

We had a few small showers waiting in line for our parade but in the end, a rainless parade. The convertibles were able to drive with their tops down. I'll get pictures up as soon as I can on our site.

ride

ill second that yucca. i rode in the exige as well. wow what a ride. he really had it sliding on a couple corners but as he said it tells you what its doing so it makes it fairly easy to control. yucca and i are going to split one for track days as soon as our ships come in.

Man, I should have been there. What type open wheel Lotus is that? A picture of that would go well with my Lotus 49 pictures in my computer room.

yeah i left around 10:30 i think. I saw you hop out of the blue 911 C4S, and once I had gotten out of the exige i think you had hopped into something else. I wanted to tell you but I thought I was late!

The parade turned out to be a flop and I came back around 3:00. The track was dry by then and the grip in the cars was amazing. Did you see the Lotus F1 stration?

Did you go to the parade?

serious wheels

after a search of lotus exige i found a site called seriouswheels.com. they had a 2005 lotus exige sport built for an individual as a one off type race car. i tried to attach a link but i dont know how. all i can say is imagine that car in a 1800 lb. 400 hp version.
