roadodendron and I plan on attending, I just signed up for the geocaching event. We are TooMINIs on geocaching.com. Got started geocaching at last year's event. Love the pathtags and can't wait to get one for 2009!

Here's a pic from last year's geocaching M&G... It's the only one that I took because my camera was acting up.

Hehe, we'll be bringing two MINIs to this year's event!

And forewarning to all...

Try not to use a suspicious looking container for your cache. Southern law enforcement doesn't know what to make of it.

If anyone wants to load the geocaches near Fontana into your Garmin GPS (I am using a Nuvi 350), you can do that using POI loader. It's a free download directly from Garmin for Mac or Windows.

1. Install the program
2. Plug your GPS into your computer using a USB cable
3. Follow the instructions in program to transfer your GPX file.

What? You don't have a GPX file of the 500 closest geocaches to Fontana? Well, you can get that by signing up for a premium membership with geocaching.com for $3 a month. You should find a option for "Build Pocket Queries". fill in the pertinent information and have the file sent to your email inbox.

If you are new to geocaching and don't want to really want to shell out for a premium membership, you can download the file here

If you have an iPhone, you can also download the much improved geocaching app which now allows you to save caches for offline use (and you probably won't have a connection much of anywhere)

Feel free to send me a PM if you need any help.

I use a program called gsak. It's free unless you want to pay to get rid of the splash screen that loads. You can import the query you got from geocaching.com into that as well.

for people that have smart phones, you can use cachemate to put all the info on so you don't have to print paper out.

with the gsak software i can put all the caches on my garmin gps and put all the log cache info on my moto q9c phone.

I will have a print out of some of the closer caches to hand out. It will have the coords, size and type of cache.

I look forward to meeting everyone....
Jeff

Although we were late to the event (we were out during some pre-meet geocaching), we did arrive in time to get a printout and 4 pathtags. It was alot of fun. Next year we'll try to be on time....

Thanks for a great GeoEvent

We had a great time and picked up a few really cool caches. ANd the Pathtags are awesome!

BTW - I noticed that there are a lot of Travel bugs still logged in at the event, even though all were picked up. I you snagged one - please don't forget to log it.

Any plans for this occurring again this year (2010)? No idea as to if I can even make it to MOTD, but if so, I'd love to this offered. The pathtags were a new item to me (only started caching recently) and would love to add one to my stash of geocaching items.
