Hey folks, I haven't been active on here in a while, but just wanted to drop a quick "HI" before we head down to the MOTD. I won't be there for breakfast Thursday morning, but I do have a campsite Thurs-Sun. Look forward to meeting you all though. This is my first MOTD so needless to say, I'm stoked about the trip and meeting some fellow enthusiasts.

I've got my big cast iron griddle to put on one of the Colemans.

I made it over 800 miles today... Should be at Fontana by noon tomorrow.

Néed firewood? There is a self-service road side box 3 miles north of Robbinsville... On east side of road. $5 gets you enough cut, dry wood to fill 2 milk crates (or so). $10 gets you enough to cover the folded down rear seats of an MCS with 3-4 layers of wood.

Excellent tip! Thanks!

Hey, Thumper, I got home with more poles than I left with, so I know I have one, maybe 2 of yours. I'll bring it back next year with a six-pack for one years rent. I enjoyed myself, despite the rain, and will be back. Y'all were a very hospitable bunch. I hope everybody got (or gets) where they were going safely.

Well, we have made it out of the cone of silence and are now back to posting. :D Loved the camping this year, we reserved spot 20 again next year. Got to try to outdo Yum yum driver on the site decorations at least one time.

Here are some pics!
I decided to try camping this year. It was a bit wet, but the $30 shelter I picked up came in handy. The Fontana campground is beautiful... right on the river.

Here's a pic of my 'phone booth'... the only place around Fontana where I can find cell signal. I just found Skype for the iPhone and I wish I had found it before I went... could have made outbound calls from the Fontana facilities where there was good WiFi.

More camping pics.

Here's a pic from the Sunrise Drive over the Smokys

Fontana Lake, from the top of the Dam

Excellent pictures indeed. I like how those skid marks lead right up to where you took that one photo.

As soon as I get mine off my camera, I'll put some on here.

How did I miss your MINI there? That is one sweet looking pepper white!

It would have been tough to do... I was right at the entrance of the camp ground, but thanks for the compliment!

I just wanted to pop back on this thread and say thank you to everyone who gave me encouraging words on Thursday when I had to head to Robbinsville twice for phone interviews. I just got off of the phone with one of them (after 2 more calls) and I got a job offer! I've also been out for 4-5 hours of interviews with the other company that was interested and an offer has been assembled and is waiting for final approval from corporate HQ!

Woo Hoo! Employment!

Nope! No moving! One of them may require a fair amount of travel for a few months, but that's OK in the big picture.
