Camping at the Dragon
Well, I called Fontana today and switched my reservation from the Lodge to the campground instead. Way cheaper and I think it will be much more fun this way! My buddy Mark is driving over from Nashville and meeting me there....we'll be staying in this....

Yes, I know it looks too big to tow behind a MINI, but my MC pulls it with ease! I picked it up on the cheap about a month ago and have plans to "remodel" it once the cold weather breaks. The interior is in great shape, but the exterior needs a bit of work, including a paint job. I was thinking about painting it Red on the bottom with a white top to match the MINI!
I've been thinking about names for the camper too....what do you think about "THE DRAGON SHACK"?

Excellent idea. I wasn't sure about the beer swap because I didn't know what it was, but after reading about it, it sounds awesome. We've got a brewery right here in Charlottesville that is pretty good too.
Fastlane, that camper looks tight. The red and white sounds sweet too, but I don't know about the brown canvas with it once it's open. Is there any way to "paint" the canvas?

The camper was just a few hundred dollars, so if it's obnoxious, that's o.k.
Just made my camping reservation today.
Before I made mine, I was told there were "5 or 6" left, so anyone still thinking about, better act soon. . . Though as I recall from last year (my first MOTD), there were a few open camp sites.
No offense, I hope it's you. . .
I remember you from last year. We were the two Minis that were parked next to you with two tents. I am not sure I will be able to go this year but really want to....
Thanks for letting me wash my car last year!!

Looks like we all are going to have a blast this year with another great group of campers! I am planning on bringing a hose, bucket and some cleaning supplies like years past so us campers have a car wash area too, I will set it up by shelter 18 so just bring your own towls for drying.
New Clubman for Dragon Camping
Same camping spot #18 different car....... because we traded in our Chili Red/White 06 MCSa last Saturday for a Laser Blue/Silver 2009 Clubman S, so now I'll have a new ride for the Dragon and a little room for packing all the camping gear. Hope to see everyone soon.
(A special Kudos to an outstanding MA, John Monk as well as everyone else at MINI of Nashville for being so gracious to us.)

He's my MA, too. I guess I'll be seein' you at the Dragon!
Are there still spots open? I definitely want to camp. Good excuse to get that new tent I've been wanting.
Also... could someone PM or something and explain what happens exactly at the Brewswap? It sounds like something I'll definitely want to do, I'm a beer lover (real beer, not Bud Light).

But ya gotta be able to throw them back baby.
Hey Augie, your welcome. I hope you can make it too, there is always extra space to throw down a tent at the last minute.
Hey Mox, if you are going how about representing the Jersey/Philly squad for the Beer Olympics, we won, hands down, last year. Our team was just comprised last minute day of at MOTD 08 event and won by a large margin, despite others "training" for event. But Detroit, NC, SC are gunning to to dethrone us of our gold medals.

That sounds awesome! I'm in!
O.K. We are about a month out from the big event and I'm having trouble containing my excitement. To give the camping thread a bit of action, here are some shots of pop up we will be staying in (now named "the dragon shack")...
I worked all last weekend to "remodel" the inside. Removed the sink/stove/fridge (useless in my opinion...you cook OUTSIDE when you camp!). Painted the whole interior and put down a new floor. Also, replaced the ceiling as it had some issues from past water leaks.
Before:

After:

This weekend, I repacked the bearings and bought new wheels. Next weekend...repaint the outside (Chili Red and White, of course
) and new L.E.D. lighting.
I'm pumped! I don't think I can wait 30 days...

I was interested in camping at the base of the dam, but I can't do it this year. I need to make sure I have a phone that works in case there is an emergency at home, so I am staying in the lodge. Looks like fun though!
Yum Yum Driver! Good to hear you will be at MOTD this year!! Do you have space for my big *** tent? I'll bring the car washing gear.
Hey hefro, glad you and your wife and your big a$$ tent as well as your buddy and his will be sharing the site. That should fill up our site pretty good. FYI, you might want to bring your mittens we were 70's on Sunday and had snow here on Monday & Tuesday.
I look forward to seeing you all again..
