Camping at the Dragon
Hi all!
I just decided to make the run to MOTD this year... a last minute thing! I just got off of the phone with Fontana and there are no campsites available.
Would anyone be willing to share their campsite with me? A single MINI and tent?
I'm good at sharing! I'd be very happy to share in campsite expense and would gratefully provide some of our best Texas beer if you are interested! I'm also handy with a bucket and sponge if my gratitude can be expressed by my compulsive automotive detailing OCD!

We stayed in a cabin last year and I have only seen the campground from the top of the dam.....so I'm not sure how big the sites are. You are welcome to pitch your tent on our spot. My friend from Nashville will be meeting me there and we will have two MINIs and a popup camper on a site with hookups. Not sure which site we have...I don't think they specified on my reservation sheet. If there's room (I bet there will be), you are certainly welcome to set up with us.
Wow... under 2 hours! NAM is a wonderful place!
A PM will be along shortly! Thanks!
PS: From what i've heard, there will be plenty of room for all of us.
PPS: 3 hours and 2 offers for camping sites! This place is really excellent!

I can't go this year
We just moved into our new house, and besides money being tight, I used up all of my remaining vacation for the move.
So you are all on your own for breakfast this year!
I was sharing a site with Yum Yum Driver, he may have a campspot available (and it is a good one, with a shelter on it!)
Have fun, and I'll see you next year!

O.K. folks....I've been working feverishly over the last few weeks to get my popup camper ready for the trip down to Fontana.
Disclaimer: I know this is going to make me look like a lunatic, but trailer/campers are kind of a hobby of mine. I built a teardrop camper from scratch a few years back, but had to sell it when I moved to a new house a couple of years ago. Then, I've had a couple other small trailers over the years as well.....so when this el-cheapo pop up camper came up for sale for next to nothing, I grabbed it up and have had fun fixing it up. My goal was to have a cheap camper to take out on the weekend and have friends/family go along. Well, as with most things in my life, I went a little overboard...
Here she is when I first picked her up. She's old, sad, dirty, tired, and oh so bland....welcome back to 1988!

After two different paint jobs (the first red paint I used didn't match at all), dropping the axle to accommodate larger wheels, new LED lights, repaired roof with new ceiling, new interior lights, new paint and flooring inside....and (obviously) a big *** Union Jack painted on the roof...
Behold.....THE DRAGON SHACK!

Only a few little odds and ends to do yet and she's finished up (until I think of something else to do to it, that is...). Can't wait til next week!!!

I've got a site, so if anybody needs a spot, let me know. I'm not sure which lot it is yet, but I'm getting there mid day Tuesday the 28th. I'm going to call Fontana probably today to see if they can give me a lot number.
i'll be around the campground off and on .. somewhere.. LOL. i kinda just tend to plop somewhere random 'cause i always have really bad luck w/ making concrete plans
i should be getting there Monday, barring any unforeseen situations..

I got some nice long campfire forks for toasting marshmallows today! I'll have to hit the grocery in Robbinsville for Smores fixins! I got the tent set up in the backyard today and tested the air mattress... Woo Hoo!
Since the breakfast club has moved on up (the hill to the resort), does the remaining camping crew want to coordinate breakfast for at least one morning? I'll bring the pancake mix!
Also, anyone know if the major craters (potholes) leading into the campground have been fixed?

Suggestions welcomed
That's a Hilton on wheels.
My site's open to anyone we can fit in. (Tracy, you're still invited!) I won't be in until Thursday evening (or late afternoon at the earliest), but I'm sure the site isn't booked for Wed. night, that wouldn't make a whole lot of sense.
