Anyone, please come on by and say 'hi'! I've also got a hose and bucket packed, so cars can be washed as long as the runoff doesn't swamp someone's campsite! I drive a PW/PW MCS with painted arches and I'll be in a Coleman Cimmaron tent like this:

I'll have my french press for coffee. If you are going to have a campfire, I can bring canned biscuits for biscuits on a stick!

I can bring beer too! :D

I think we'll have a campfire. So far we have Pancakes (mix), bacon, coffee and biscuits.

If anyone has a good-size stove for cooking pancakes, we'd really appreciate it.

I'm bringing some firewood & starters logs for a campfire....now if I can just find were I put the matches

Me and Hefro have electric at our site so if anybody has an electric skillet or something, couldn't he use that for the pancakes?

I'm bringing a campfire grill, basically a chrome wire grid to set up over a campfire. I've got a cast-iron griddle around as well and can bring that if needed. The combination of the two should work for pancakes.

Speaking of camp fires.....is there a place nearby to buy firewood? I'm assuming that they have fire rings at the sites?

Wish we could join you guys for breakfast, but we won't be there til Thursday afternoon.

Fastlane,

I'll be checking out the grocery store in Robbinsville on Tuesday. I'll try and pick up plenty (hope they have it... stores in TX do). Worst case is that we have a great bonfire on Saturday night or leave some extra wood for the campers coming after us.

From the look of the photos on the Fontana web site, there are fire rings available.

I posted this over on the accomodations thread, but it was suggested to post it here as well...

I called, and Fontana said they had room for me...I can afford it but, I heard all the camp fire talk(cooking, the memories) on this thread and here I am. I really want to camp, but there are no spaces left. It's only me and the MINI with a tent, chair etc... I know how to use a cast iron skillet and can stoke a fire. I need a place from Wed-Sat morning. Does anyone have some extra space on their lot??? I can split the cost, no problem and am negotiable on cooler contents.....

Thanks, Chad

"Does anyone have some extra space on their lot???" First year camping for me, so I really don't know, but I'm not mean enough to turn you away, if there's room. That would be pretty cold.

The more the merrier. I can't imagine these sites aren't big enough to accommodate more than a handful of two man tents. You're welcome at my site, but I won't be in until Thurs. So actually, if you wanted to, you could book it for Wed. night and we can meet up Thurs. when I get there. No worries about splitting the cost or anything, I've got it whether you're there or not.

I still have no idea if Tracy is showing up, but I know she has a two man tent, too. There should be plenty o' room.

I went out and filled up a big rubbermaild tub full of firewood today, cleaned & waxed the car and I just found blue Christmas lights to match my car that I'm going to use to light up our shelter area....whew I can rest now a little. I haven't slept in days, anyone else not sleeping too?

I'll have to call and find out what the lot number is (I need to do that anyway). Just bring your own food and gas, I guess.

I'm sleeping o.k.....but it's nothing but dreams about the trip. I'm excited and SO ready to go!

Now to figure out how to deal with three days of 6th graders before I can bolt out of here! They're hard enough to deal with this time of year.

BTW...my car looks like CRAP right now. It'll be clean, but it hasn't been waxed since...well, I don' know when. My MC is mainly a commuter car for me. You should see all the rock chips in the bonnet (25-30 of them I bet). I just got a Dr. Colorchip kit in the mail and will be bringing it along. If anyone with Chili Red needs a little touch up, you're welcome to try it.

So it sounds as though we have bacon, pancakes and coffee for Thursday morning, though we only have two Coleman stoves to cook on.
