Come on 1,000!
Kind of ridiculous that things aren't working with only 20 days of registration left.
I know Mark was a little under the weather last week, and I am sure the NAM Alliance is taking up a bit of his time.
I've tried to register twice today, but NAM won't let me log on to pay for my registration. If other people are having the same issue, then that might be what's causing the stagnant numbers. Any suggestions on what might be causing this to happen to me? I really want to get registered.
Why end registration on April 7?
Seems to me that it is in everyones best interest to extend registration as far out as possible. NAM has some minimum headcount in mind, so why end registration before that number may be reached. I can't see that the event planners need 22 days (7th to 29th) to finalize their activities.
I think we all agree that more is better in these cases.
Why not extend registration 1 or 2 more weeks to try and grab everybody that is interested???

I know part of the reason is to order the custom items for the swag bags. It takes weeks for them to be made and then shipped.
Plus if your not interested now, don't know if another week or so will make a difference.
Obviously there are several hundred folks that came last year and are not coming this year. These folks all know when the event is and how to sign up and are choosing not too.
My two cents: Just like most things in life, there are highs and lows, like the stock market, housing market, etc. Perhaps we were naive to think each year the event would also get bigger and bigger (I know I was
). But the economy is really much worse that it was last year and I'm sure that is effecting some plans. At least here in Florida folks are getting laid off left and right and many others are worried if they will have job in the immediate future and are a little more cautious with their money right now.

What Barry said, shirts need to be printed, name tags, other promo items all have 3-4 week lead times. Orders have to be placed. Not to mention Fontana has cut-offs for head counts on dinners, they need to order all the food.
Could be that Crowded House is playing several dates in May, NY, Chicago and California. Yeah, right.
That news trickled out after we'd already registered...
So will Fontana remain sold out as stated a year ago?
Come on 350!

Idea:
Try a separate thread for those who have not reg yet but are planning on being there. Some for a day or two, some more or less. Some just into the fellowship, not into the big events, just hanging out. If that thread does not turn into a bashing of those folks, you might be suprised at the total. (Iknow of 19-21 such MINIs)
I have not reg yet this year, and need every day of the deadline due to situations on the home front. Have reservation for lodging, but will it be just me again this year or both of us? One MINI or 2? TBD - When I do, it will just be the basic reg for some memorabilia....

Event Planner is now fully active.
Well at 3am I found the Event Planner to be fully functional for those that were waiting for it to be up and running.
I did however notice that the Saturday night Midnight Dragon Run does not appear to be on there.
Nor did I see the MOTD Block Party on Thursday from 4-7pm.
I only mention these because it may influence some not to join certain events in order not to miss these.

Only the reg, MINI reg, and extra MOTD shirt has a check beside it.
I do wish that the Group Photo had a sign-up just to get an idea of how many are planning on showing up.
I only mention this because some of the drives and the autocross will take away from those numbers that
can show up for the picture and with the low turn out to begin with, that can be significant.
I emailed Mark about that. Having a head count also helps, George the photographer, set up his camera accordingly in the morning based on the number of cars coming.
Yes I know, but in years past, if the event was registered for through the NAM store, a check appeared next to the item you were registered for. That way you could easily glance at the event planner and see everything that was on your schedule. Kinda the point of the whole thing.

That would be of great help so that I would know what I'm doing at a glance.
