I really think quite a few people do not register I know of several who are going, planning routes, have reservations but they are not on the list. If they don't want a bag of swag or to eat many choose not to register. I know, it doesn't seem right. But there will be plenty of MINIs to admire & a little more room on the roads if less show up

It's been that way for the last couple years, but even so we had over 800 register last year. Less registrants, means less people at MINI Monte Carlo Night, and more chances for the attendees to take home great prizes!

Same here, I know of 5 MINI owners that are going for sure and they have not registered.
Two of them are trying to bum some room space from me and the others are just coming up for Saturday.

I agree, registration seems to be going a bit slower this year.

This is my second year for MOTD. I think a lot of the "downturn" is lodging. My first year I had to stay off site, and drive in. This time I am #8 on the waiting list, but still haven't been called about moving up. So, I was able to bunk in with someone else, that I don't know, and they don't know me either.

Add an extra day to that compared to last year, and it is an added expense because few want to rent out a room for one less day, plus taking an extra day off from work. So if I want to stay on site, I shell out an extra days worth of lodging money if I want to be in Fontana.

Still looking forward to being there.

the problem with folks not registering is that give aways, i.e. the info table stuff is based on registered numbers.

I hope I'll have enough info stuff

easy for you to say...I'm gonna have to hire security, check IDs, get metal detectors...
Besides, do you wear your reg. badge every waking hour? I know I've forgotten more than a few times

Well, here's a weird factoid. Despite registration being way down from last year, I have more patch orders for the MOTD 6 patch this year than I did last year for the MOTD 5 patch. So something is amiss.

I'm a believer!
I really do believe that we will make it to 400/200 before the close of the registration period.
Only 22/19 more to go..

AFAIK, Fontana's sold out, so we're going to have a BUNCH of folks down there...

Fontana is sold out but we are not the only group there that week.
There is also the Audi, VW, Corvette and BMW Z4 clubs that are listed for most of the same days.. Not to mention the Bikers.
You can find this list on the Tailofthedragon.com website calendar

Yes but not all stay at Fonana, THe MINIs will probably account for at least 85% of Fontanas capacity if not more.

This is what I keep coming up with....

There is a large quantity of people who can only be there Friday through Sunday. With MOTD being extended this year, those people will miss out on registered events for 2 of the 4 days, instead of 1 as in previous years, so it may make no sense to them to register.

In hindsight the extension of 1 day should have been publicized well in advance to last year's MOTD. We started out behind the 8-ball, when people had already reserved their rooms/cabins at a sold out resort.

And there is still the conspiracy theory.....

The numbers don't really matter. Is anyone going to have less fun if there are 400 people there as opposed to 500? All it means is less congested roads on which to motor!

Yes, for those of us organizing the events....the numbers most certainly matter.
