Come on 1,000!
The Event Planner has been up for 5 full days including a full weekend, and it didn't help all that much.

Maybe people are put off by the $10 to change if you want to add an event. I know a couple of people who are waiting to register until they are 100% on what events they want to attend.
Maybe some people are considering canceling this year because of the economy... the thought has crossed my mind. (I'm registered though)

Regardless we're only a week away from the general registration deadline. The event planner shows all the events of the weekend. If people are waiting for the schedule to be finalized...it has been for a week now. We need to get registrations in place. Numbers are so low right now that many of the major events and logistics are going to have to be scaled back in some way so that all the coordinators don't end up in the red financially.
In the next few minutes I'll be sending out an PM to all members of the site that have visited in the last few months. My intent is to make them aware of the concerns we have and encourage them to act quickly.

The last minute of the last hour of the last day
But in using Marks quote above, there are many people out there that like to plan everything out before committing and give it plenty of
thought in order to avoid making any mistakes, especially when those mistakes can cost them money.
I see the $10 change fee as a double edged sword, on the one side it does deter changes and yet on the other it keeps people from committing too soon.
After all there's nothing to gain by registering early and something to lose if you do need to make any changes.
So don't be surprised if there is a large jump in registration on the last hour of the last day of registration.
Don't get me wrong, I know of at least a handful of MINI owners that are planning on attending without registering, but in most cases
they are unsure of what day and how long they'll be able to be there.

Although we are talking about an event on public roads, the event at large is not put together for free, it does cost the event organizers quite a bit of time and money to make all of the arrangements for space, dinners, group rates, rentals, deposits, etc. I find it hard to believe that someone would not be willing to register and donate a few dollars towards the cause.
I even registered my 1 year old daughter...
I just don't understand why folks haven't signed up for the minimal basic registration, it's not expensive after all.
I think that it's not generally understood the vast amount of volunteer work that goes into the planning of this event.
Perhaps next year, nothing should be done at all just so folks can get an idea of how much time and effort goes into this.
I can understand not registering if one is just coming for a day, but if one plans to attend the entire 4 days, and not register for least a basic package, well...

Hey I'm with you on the whole registration thing...
I can't force those that don't want to register to do so.
I myself am guilty of not registering for past MOTD events, but I did miss out on some of the fun events because of it.
Thats why this year is my first time officially attending as a fully registered member.
