Terrible Dragon News!
I was researching some information about roads in the area of The Dragon and found this on the Tennessee Department of Transportation site.
Now I am so bummed out that I can't sleep!

I guess Midnight on the Dragon is now cancelled and we are all going to have to spend a lot of time driving everywhere BUT on the Dragon! At least there are a lot of other good roads in the area and most events can be adjusted to accommodate the road closure.

Nashville, Tenn.—The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) announced today construction work on two Tennessee highways that will result in the closure of a portion of US-411 south of Maryville and a closure of US-129 between Calderwood and the North Carolina border for the week of April 30-May 6. The closure is the first in a series of blasts necessary to remove unstable rock bluffs located above the hydroelectric dams along the Tennessee River.
“This week’s blasts will be very similar to the February 26th weekend blast,” said TDOT’s Chief Engineer, Paul Degges. “We will be covering a much larger demolition area, which requires us to close the highway for 6 days. By doing the larger blast we hope to reduce the number of weekends that will require a complete closure of US-129 later this summer when tourist traffic reaches its peak.”
“This week we will again be removing close to 9,000 cubic yards of rock from the bluff, so, for safety reasons we cannot allow traffic in this area during the blast. The road closure will also allow the TDOT to install new safety guardrails along US-129” Degges said.
Eastbound US-129 traffic will be detoured onto the Foothills Parkway to US-321 eastbound. Motorists traveling from US-411 North are advised to take US-411 North to US-321 at Maryville.
Message boards will be displayed at the junction of US-411 and US-129 and several locations along US-321 and at the junction of Hwy 28 and US-129 westbound in North Carolina to alert travelers and to help detour them around the closure. Tennessee and North Carolina State Patrol officers will also be in place to assist motorists with the detour.

I did it 2 years ago. Figured there are enough new people that might not have had the chance to enjoy it. . .

Damn! Not again! Oh well, I guess I will cancel my reservation and have all the registration goodies mailed to the house like last time. At least I get a cool shirt. And here I was going to unveil my new ECU flash for the R56. Best numbers to date, and fully configurable.

I guess it doesn't affect me much since I am a Dragon newbie. Being unfamiliar with the road, I would have been holding up the line of cars wanting to drive faster and who don't like slow drivers, so I wasn't going to drive any of the roads that weekend.
OMG, You got me! I read that and felt a wave of intense anger rush over me!!!
Thank God you were only kidding or my family wouldn't have been able to live with me for the next couple months!!!

Your just going to have to put that new Mascott of yours to good use
LOL - good one, Yucca!
Although I did attend MOTD3 two years ago, I wasn't reading the MOTD forums heavily back then, so this was the first I'd seen of the hoax... obviously some jokes are worth repeating!

I'll skip it next year and then post the exact same thing on April Fool's Day 2009.

It will be a biennial dragon tradition
