Magnets would be fun as well... Cut out some basic shapes out of sheet magnet material (circles, hearts, rainbows etc.) and then have the kids paint them with acryllic paint. A quick top coat of sealent and they'd certainly last all the way home.

I loved the idea of running around and playing field games. Or a balloon toss! What is the weather like? I'm in Phoenix where its so hot I want to die today so I'm all about the games where you get wet. Is it warm and humid or nice and raining? I guess I should know this so I know what clothes to bring!

Weather varies a lot that time of year at Fontana. Typical highs in the mid sixties to upper seventies. Might rain, might not.

I wasn't able to get anyone to donate toys as prizes, but I used my mad internet searching skillz and found a box of 12 2.5 inch pull-back diecast MINIs for $18, plus shipping. I'd be willing to purchase one box in leu of a participation fee for my son. If we can get one or two more people to contribue a box each, then we should have enough so that each child goes away with one car. We need a head count so we are sure that each child gets something.

I'll purchase a box in leu of Andria's participation fee, as well. Just let me know exactly how much with shipping and I can PayPal the money.

I was going to have each of you order your own, but I went to the site, and since it's a bulk site, there is a $50 minimum. Three boxes is $55 (plus shipping), so I'll just order three boxes, and then PM you with your totals. To be honest, I hate receiving money through PayPal, so if you don't mind, I'd rather just get a check sent in the mail. I'll do PayPal if a check won't work for you.

Guess what I found??? I found little cotton Union Jack flags for .50 each, and an entire roll of 500 Union Jack flag stickers for $5! So we'll have three dozen pull back cars, some flags, and stickers. That should be more than enough "swag" for the kids. I think I'll wait until we get more of an idea of how many kids we'll have so we know how much to order. Does anyone know how to get hold of Mark to get this on the event planner so we can get a head count?

I gave her Mark's email address y'all.

KamoFrogg is an online shopping GODDESS. She routinely finds stuff that I can't even BELIEVE. When you meet her, ask her about the "Baron Karza/Force Commander Centaur Toys" saga, which she accomplished most triumphantly!

Ok, it seems I'm in charge of the kiddie swag. I have two people down for one dozen toy MINIs each (with shipping and handling, that's about $24 per dozen). I'll be happy to pitch in for the third dozen, and do the work to get this stuff ordered. If we order three dozen flags and the roll of stickers, that's another $23 plus shipping. If I can get someone else to donate for that, we'll be in great shape. If less kids come, I won't need to order so many flags (they are sold by the dozen). Unfortunately, the only way for me to get such a great price on the cars is to order 36 of them. Even with that many, it's still way cheaper than I have seen them anywhere else.

I put in a request to Mark to add the Little Dragons Event to the planner for 1:30 on Friday. I also asked him to add the ice cream run for 1:30 on Saturday.

Any other suggestions? I took care of the swag, now we need someone to volunteer for the games and activities. Any takers?

I'll take care of bringing some big color-able MINI banner that the kids can decorate and sign. And markers.

Hey, someone over on the ice cream thread made a great point. Since all the other funcitions seem to have shirts, why not the ice cream run? That got me thinking, why not the Little Dragons? They could be offered in sizes from child's small up to adult. What do you think? Is it too late to get one designed? My husband can probably design one, but who do we ask to print and sell them? I'd SO buy one for my kid!

I'm already getting kid-sized shirts for the Drive-In - but my kids can never have too many cool Dragon-themed shirts...

The easy, no-risk, no-upfront-cost, no-minimum way to do this is with a print-on-demand service like cafepress.com...

So Matt (or somebody) could do a design, upload it, setup a free store and provide a link for folks to order if interested. With appropriate approval of the NAM gods, of course.

Um yeah. I guess I volunteered Matt too quickly. I guess he doesn't need anything else to do. You know, with the lighting clinic and all, I can see why he wouldn't want to design a shirt for his son's event .

Hey, I have an idea. If each child who is signed up for the Little Dragons event brings a plain white shirt, we can do tie-die. Thoughts? I know they wouldn't be cool Dragon-themed shirts, but it would be fun nonetheless.

Also a great idea - my kids LOVE tiedye. And it would give them something to sew their MOTD patches onto.

Craig was nice enough to get a shirt design drawn up for us, but he doesn't have the time to get them printed, so we'll have to do Cafepress or Zazzle. I'll be posting more info about that later today, as soon as we have details.

I have two volunteers to pay for giveaways for the kids. Without a headcount, I'm doing my best to guess, and make sure every child has something to take home. So I'm going to order three dozen MINIs, three dozen Union Jack flags, and a roll of Union Jack stickers. I need one more person to volunteer to pay for a "lot" of prizes. If you choose to donate money to buy prizes, you won't have to also pay the $5 participation fee for your kid(s). I'm thinking each group of prizes will cost around $24. I need to get these orders in quickly to assure shipment before the Dragon.

Has anyone organized the games and activities yet? We need to get on that. I'm thinking 1 1/2 hours for the event, so we need enough to fill that time.

I'm up for buying prizes. I have three little dragons attending, 2 boys, 8 and 13 and a girl, 10. It sounds like you've got some great ideas for them! Let me know how you want me to pay.

I love the plush dragons, but it seems Snooter is working on getting some from a store in Deals Gap, and they are super cute. Keep our fingers crossed. With the help of some generous participants (gh20, BlimeoCabrio, awood279, and myself), we have some cool gifts and prizes on the way. Someone (was it you Snooter?) is also bringing a couple cool give-aways. I thought we could do a drawing for those "special" prizes.

OK, I've been working with Craig on a t-shirt for this event - thanks a million for the design!

Unfortunately, his shop cannot make the actual shirts for us - he's too swamped. HOWEVER, I've put his design on both white and colored/black shirts over on Zazzle.com. Here they are:

WHITE:

COLORED (red, green, gray, navy, black):

Shirts are available in children's and adult sizes - just choose the size(s) you want to order. I've made several shirts on Zazzle and they all look great and wash well. We made our 5-year old his own "Nano Car" shirt (in green) and it looked SUPER cute!

I know that Zazzle shirts, being a "boutique" item, cost more than the same item made from Craig's screenprint shop, but with him being swamped and any other shirt shop wanting me to pre-pay for the entire run, this was the best I could come up with.

To order shirts click HERE. If you do not see the shirts, click the "View All Products" link under the "New Products" header. See y'all on the Dragon!!
