MOTD07: R56 mini-MINI Expo!

Here is the tenative plan so far:

Friday May 4th, right after the main Dragon Parade, which I'm guessing will end about 12-noon-ish:

A bunch of us newbie R56 owners are going to meet at the Fontana Village Laundromat parking lot [in the same building as the General Store and Ice Cream Parlor] This location is now confirmed to not be in conflict with other events!

See this Map, it's building #5

The meeting is simply a gathering of R56 owners that are interested in "Saying HI" to the rest of the Mini and MINI crowd and comparing Motoring Notes. Classic Mini's and R50/53's are totally welcome to share in the experience and check out the new crop of MINI's, and their cheerful new owners!

The original thread is here, however, if you're planning on attending with your R56, please post in this thread!

So far there will [hopefully] be thirteen R56 attending, Cooper's and Cooper S's of all colors:
*Trinity07 [DS/B MCS]
*designerMINI [Mellow Yellow/Black MCS!]
*Ryephile [all Astro Black MCS]
*locobrit [Lightning Blue/White MCS]
*maxxboy [Pepper White/Black MC]
*Gabe [Laser Blue/White MCS]
*Wildone3c [Lightning Blue/Black MCS]
*OutMotoring [all Mellow Yellow MCS]
*zambardo [Pepper White/Black MCS with Redwood interior]
*muidaq [Pure Silver/Black MCS]
*silverdollar [Sparkling Silver with Redwood interior]
*krut [Laser Blue/Black MCS]
*Uncle_John [Mellow Yellow/Black MCS]

It'll be an easy going chatting session to get to know the new R56, and its owners. Good times

Cheers, and see you there!
Ryan

Ryan, isn't that entire lot going to be taken up by vendors?

Last year a quarter of the lot was used for Vendors...have they grown that much?

I believe that Mark was going to attempt to combine all the vendors in one area. Might want to PM Mark to get the latest

What Snooter said. I think the AC parking lot has been chosen to be the one and only Vendor location this year as splitting them up last year did not work out too well. Check with mark.

Right now the plan, because of the number of vendors that have indicated an interest in attending, is to surround the adventure center with the vendors. If its not raining it might be possible to pull the R56s onto the grass in front of the Adventure Center if everyone would be open to that. Another alternative would be to keep a area carved out of the vendor area for a small number of cars (say 10 cars). For example we have a time period for the R56s, a time for a GP gathering, a time for a classic gathering, etc. If you can keep me updated on the number that have "RSVPd" in joining the group we can figure out a way to make something work.

I wonder if the parking lot down by the Laundromat would be a better option, since there won't be any vendors there this year?

Maybe the lot by the old Registration area will be better, Rye? I know it's not exactly in the middle of things, but it has plenty of room for the R56s to park and pose!

This will be open during the entire weekend so it would work well.

Clo, you're just trying to get us R56'ers all out of the way aren't you! *wink*

Mark, sounds great; that parking lot is very easy to find for the 1st timers that'll have their R56's at Fontana for the 1st time. Let's shoot for that, I'll change the 1st post.

Remind me closer to the event and I'll see where we are space-wise. If we have space I think it would be cool to have the gather up on the hill at the event center.

Sounds like a plan! I agree that it would be easy to find for anyone who hasn't been to Fontana before.

I look forward to meeting all the R56 owners! Of course, Mini and R50/R53 owners are more than welcome to stop by and check out the new generation of MINI's!

Random side note: I officialy signed up for MOTD07 now! Thanks to Mark for adding this R56 mini-MINI Expo to the official Schedule of Events!

Cheers,
