Cool. Thanks for the info. One more question. I know that hey have elec. and water hookups, but is there a dumping station?
I will be coming in on 28 so that shouldn't be an issue. 4 lane except the last little bit on 28.

their website mentions a dumping station, but says it is not actually AT the campground.

The dumping station was located by the Campground entrance.
here is a link to the Campground map http://www.fontanavillage.com/maps/campground.pdf

I also have seen 40 & 45ft motorhomes at the Campgrounds as well as large 5th wheels rigs every time I've been there. The group with the big 5th wheel rig at last years MOTD4 I think was with Atlanta MINIS He had a Black/White Classic in the back garage of the 5th wheel.....way cool setup

I just got off the phone with Fontana Village, they said they are booked up on Tent Camping Sites, have RV sites open, so I reserved one of those.

I'm coming by myself, and camping with the MINI, so I won't take the whole spot. If some one else is wants to share thats cool, send me a PM. It was only $28 a night with our 20% discount.

I just called and reserved the last RV site, so it looks like the campground is now full!

The RV site was the last spot left, though I am actually tent camping.

From the other posts it sounds like there are at least two or three other people that are also planning to tent camp in an RV spot, so I'll be far from the only one there.

The idea of merging tents into one site sounds appealing to me. I'd much rather sleep to the sound of the water going over the dam than someone's RV A/C!

Just wanted to let everyone know, I've filled my RV spot. So I'm no longer taking applications. We're going to be in spot #6, I'm all for merging sites for ease of parking and such. Hopefully we can take over the RV section too.

According to a fellow Mini Owner....All the camp spots have been taken. But, old Mater would like to split the cost of a camp spot with someone if they don't mind. I can tie Mater's mouth shut, so he will be real quite that nite. And as far as me and the misses, we'll try not to make Much noise in Our little pup tent!!!!!!

I posted earlier that I am willing to share my site...

no one has taken it yet.. Just have to see of there is a car limit or tent limit per site.. up here, mainly Provincial parks have them...

there will be 2 tents and 2 cars on my site.. my friend is 90% coming with..

I am sure others will be the same... willing to lend a spot

I assume Mater is a dog... no difference if he is next site over or in the campground.. it is not that big... :P a bark is a bark, and will be heard...

Ooops...I guess I got an RV site. Think they will kick me out when I show up with my tent? I would assume they wouldn't care one way or the other as long as the site is paid for.

One thing I am upset about is that I asked at least 2-3 times about there being a cancellation fee and was told there was not one. Then I get a letter in the mail about there being a $50 fee for cancelling...for a $20 something campsite??? Hopefully I won't have to worry about it but I never know with work. I am guessing it won't be hard to find someone to transfer the reservation to if the need arises.

Once I find out for sure that I will make it, i will offer up the extra space if someone wants to share. I would hate to promise it to someone and then not be the one using the space.

I have an RV spot, I'll be camping. So long as they don't care if there are two cars at one RV spot, then anyone who needs to can share my spot. I'm not sure if I'll have one tent or two at the site.

I always get the RV spot with my tent at Fontana and they have always known about it and have never cared. The RV sites aren't any better you just pay the higher rate for the hook ups. You'll find the camping area is so far away nobody from Fontana ever bothers you.

Looks like I am in #20. Close to the bathrooms and showers!!! Anyone know how the water is...hot, warm, or freezing (and better find a cabin to shower in ) cold.

I just had an interesting conversation with a woman from Fontana. She told me they don't care how many tents you have on a site as long as it doesn't intrude on your neighbors. Also, tents are fine on the rv sites. Does anyone have any idea how big the sites are? Are there parking pads?

sites are of not bad size... I had 13 last year I Think... and it was right beside the bathrooms off in the woods.. lots of hills and trees... not sure how many tents you could get... 3 maybe 4.. .and no pads, just park your car anywhere.

I have a RV site also, at the moment I have it filled at 3 cars. I've never seen these particular sites, but I figured more than three would start to get crowded for parking spaces. They told me that I'm at site #6 on the phone when I reserved it.

When I made my reservation the (nice) reservation gal told me that they usually assign people to sites a few weeks prior to the arrival date. But she asked me if I had a preference. I forget the number I gave her (I don't have the map in front of me), but she told me that site was open and (supposedly) put my name on it.

On my reservation form there is no mention of the site number, so I assume that they may reserve the right to move folks around if need be...

See you all in a few months!
