Autocross at the Dragon 2007???

Does anyone know if we will be having an autocross again this year? It was a blast to autocross with such a big group of MINI's last year, it seemed to work out well running with the local SCCA region.

I've got an email into QueenB to see if there would be the opportunity to hold this again. I'll let you know what I find. Thanks

Edit: Oops...I found you first Mark.

Autocrossing with a bunch of MINIs and Minis is always great fun, isn't it?

Personally, I would like to take a year off from organizing anything for this run and just enjoy myself. I am also responsible for Mini Meet East 2007 this year in East Tennessee. Lots to do.....

If those of you who are interested in an autocross near the Dragon will post here so we can gauge interest for a repeat run, I will see what we can come up with. It would be nice if some other person or group coming in for the run would volunteer to organize prizes or awards for the autocross.

Cheers all,
Donna

I'm a big autocross junky, autocross at the dragon is one of the top reasons for me to go. I would be willing to help out in some way to make sure this event happens.

Jason

P.S. Donna, I've never been to MME before.....will there be a performance driving event there????

MME always has an autocross, touring rally, pano-photo, funkhana and concours. The event will likely have in the ball park of 120 classic Minis plus a number of new MINIs. It looks like we may have several vtec Mini monsters coming out to play. There are usually around 35 to 40, new and old, that participate in the autocross at MME. I hate the mokes ....they can really see the cones up close and personal.

Was last year's MOTD Autocross hosted by the ETR SCCA? Is it possible that we could make arrangements with ETR to put together another event? I would like to help, but I have no experience with autocross yet; '07 will be my first season...

Yes, ETR did the autocross. They indicated a willingness to do so again last year. I have contacted them but we will need to see enough interest.

Shoeboy you need to come on out to the next Smoky Mountain MINIs meeting coming up on January 25th. I forget where but check smokymountainmini.org

I would be interested in doing it, but it would be great if it were closer and didn't conflict with other events. We went on the drive to Dagsboro last year instead of the autocross.

There is no place closer with the type and size of parking lot required to run a safe event. I don't see it being possible to avoid conflicting with some other activity. Choices are hard sometimes.

I will not have to be making any runs into Marrysville for vacume lines and whatnot so I ought to be able to come out with my "Vtec monster".

Now you want to drive it?

Give me the keys to the lotus ;p

Much love!

The keys to the Lotus is all I've had since mid-September. I went to pick it up two days ago from the body shop and they had scraped the radiator putting the clam back on. Still waiting.....

I'm game for another try at a good time.

I had a lot of fun last year and that is because I spent more minutes out on the course than others. I'm an SCCA member and would be willing to help out.

I did the AutoX last year, it was great and well run. I will do it again this year, and be willing to help out on the day of the event.

Put me on the list!

It might be a good idea for a vendor to have some extra sets of stock and aftermarket rear-sway bar endlinks for sale at the event.

Last year I had an endlink snap in half on my 2nd run at the autox and I remember several other people also having broken endlinks and the vendors didn't have any replacements for sale at the time.

I just received word today that the site has now been secured. Now we just need about 25 or 30 MINIs to join in. Watch for more details regarding registering in a bit.

I'll provide a general sign-up in the MOTD area so we know who all is coming. I'll also provide information on how to officially sign-up so that the SCCA folks know we're coming.

BTW - NAM will be providing some awards for the MINI participants at this year's autocross.
