The EPA has repealed the Auto Stop-Start Mandate!
Rejoice!

I wonder how fast MINI can remove the requirement for it to be on after each cold start? And hopefully also allow Go-Kart mode to be remembered as well!

I would love to have this information, as well. I'm not sure that just calling my dealership and telling them is going to accomplish anything.
Couldn't agree more.
Would love not to have to switch start/stop off every time we drive the car.
Here is the contact info for MINI USA Customer Relations

Will send them my 2 cents worth right now....

Thank You for the above link. I have done my part and sent them a message asking them to develop a software update to either completely turn off or eliminate the Auto Start Stop system.
Please all who read this send Customer Service an email also.

Thank you for the link, as well! I have sent the following to them via this form.
"Hello! I own a 2025 Mini Cooper S and have been annoyed about the auto stop-start feature on the car that re-enables itself every time the car is started. I guess this was because of government credits that this feature is force enabled every time. Legislature just passed that immediately removes this credit. Will Mini be releasing an update that removes the MASSIVE annoyance of having this feature re-enable itself every time? And also, in connection with this, to be able to start the car in Go-Kart mode that also reverts itself to Core mode, I assume because of the same reason that Go-Kart mode would bypass the auto stop-start feature? I am providing a link directly to the gov site with the announcement for your convenience.

Would love to hear back on this, thank you!"

Well, I got a very quick reply to my email with what I think was a very blunt NO to the thought of removing the Auto Start Stop on our vehicles. Read the reply below. We need to band together and start a concerted effort to blast MINI with this request. Send to the link in the post above by BULLPUP01
Hi Pepi,
Thanks for writing MINI regarding your 2026 MINI JCW. I hope you are enjoying your vehicle and I appreciate your feedback on the Auto Start Stop function.
This system automatically shuts down and restarts the engine to minimize the amount of time the engine spends idling, at the same time reducing fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. As this feature is part of MINI's effort to reduce emissions, we have no current plans to remove it. Its deactivation will remain a manual decision by the driver.
MINI, however, always enjoys hearing from our valued customers and appreciates the time you have taken to write to us. We are fully committed to providing our customers with the ultimate product. An integral part of this process involves incorporating feedback from our valued customers. You can be assured that your sentiments will be heard.
We encourage you to stay in touch with our latest announcements and offerings through our BMW PressClub at: https://www.press.bmwgroup.com/usa.

I was on a conference call just now and looked and had a missed call from my local Mini dealer. Assuming it had to be from the submission. No voicemail, though.
Also, pretty gross that it seems based on that email response that they don't want to allow the owners to decide how they want to use their cars. That could influence me buying another Mini in the future because having to toggle that setting literally every time I start the car is annoying AF.
EDIT: FYI, just got the same canned email response just now.

Same here...
I received the identical response from Abigail, 'my MINI Motoring Relations Representative'.
I suspect we’re all going to get the standard corporate form letter regarding this Start/Stop issue.
They don’t need to remove the feature entirely, but once a MINI owner turns it off, it should stay off.
The more owners who write to them, the better our chances of getting this taken seriously.
