Just downloaded the third software update since I've owned my 2025 F66.
This is 07.2025.51
The new update is supposed to optimize Bluetooth, provide video conferencing, gaming and new voice commands... pretty much what the last update said it would do.
Not really interested in video conferencing and gaming on the go, but I am all over anything that makes the digital OS platform reliable and bug free..
It would be nice if they could remove some of the accelerator pedal lag via an update, if that’s possible.
Speaking of which...has anyone tried a Roar Pedal, or equivalent, to remove this throttle lag on our new gen Minis?
They claim it will remove 99% of the lag, won't void warranty and has a 10 minute DIY install... tempting.
This is a bit of a pain to download these updates, as I don't generally have my phone connected.
Isn't there a way to have the update download directly to the OS, without having to use a mobile device?
My brother's Bolt EV downloads directly to the car... no fuss, no muss on his part.
That would be much easier....
Just had a chance to drive the car after the latest software upgrade.
Only noticeable difference is the voice command will now open and close the sunroof... pretty cool!
Enjoy those Minis!

Keep us posted on which one you go with and how you like it. I have a 26 Cooper S on order and this might be something I would also do. Has anybody came out with a cold air intake yet?
Ditto to MINIBMAN I have a 26 JCW sitting at the dock as I type this.
Wonder if the JCW has the lag same as the MCS. The lag was barely noticeable on my 2017 MCS when running in sport mode, which was always
I've not seen a cold air intake for the new gen Mini yet.
ECS, have you heard of anything?
I am patiently waiting for a better exhaust system with dual tips showing out the back bumper fascia. Really like the looks of the previous gen Minis that had this. Not quite sure why Mini decided to remove this look.
Only upgrades I've purchased... a K&N air filter, wheel locks, a custom fit sunshade from ECS (perfect, by the way), touch up paint and Colorado red license plates, which look pretty darn close to the Mini's color.
I am not sure if some of this electronic throttle lag could be resolved in a firmware/software update from Mini. That would be nice.
Outside of that, I am very happy with this 4th gen F66. It drives and handles exceptionally well, and I get compliments all the time.

Not only can you open and close your sunroof, but if you have massaging seats, you can turn that on and off with your voice as well!
In Michigan, it’s against the law to operate your phone while driving (for example, holding it in your hand when you get a call). I’m guessing BMW assumed that everyone who owned a new Mini and a smart phone would always keep them connected, which makes sense to me. I’m not sure why you wouldn’t keep your phone connected…

Here in Colorado it is the same... no mobile devices while driving, not that it stops most drivers...until they get a ticket.
I am one of the few not 'tied' to my cell. In fact, I don't even take it with me most of the time.
I worked in IT, now retired, and like new tech as much as the next guy, but I find a cell phone a distraction as much as a lifeline, like so many.
To each his own....
I imagine this last update might provide more improvements we are not aware of.
I do hope they incorporate artificial intelligence into our Mini's OS voice.
Right now, my Alexa is smarter than what is provided with the Mini OS, and that is not saying much...
I am not sure if you would always need to have your phone connected, but I believe if you are signed in to the cars system with your Mini connect password, you should get all the benefits without even having the phone with you? I don’t always keep my data turned on so I’m not 100% sure I would run into any issues?
The info screen gives us a heads up when there is a software update.
However, this requires connecting a phone to the OS, which then downloads the new update to the phone (have to be driving), which then downloads the update to the OS.
It then installs the update, about 15 minutes (parked and off), and then finally the update is complete.
Egads... how clunky!
No idea why this is such awkward method of installing a remote update.
My brother's Bolt downloads and installs updates automatically in the background... no fuss, no muss and no phone necessary.
Oh well, assuming the updates are legit and not just 'fluff', I guess it is worth the hassle of going through this process each time.
BTW...I have been looking into the Roar Pedal (look it up online) and it might be the answer for throttle lag for a reasonable price.

Just had a chance to drive the car after the latest software upgrade. This can really be useful, especially for cars like the new
Minis, where the pedal sensitivity may not be as fast as you would like. The idea of updates without using a mobile device also sounds interesting, as it is
convenient when everything works without unnecessary steps. By the way, at such moments I usually get distracted by other entertainment, for example,
reading on https://casinosanalyzer.com/casino-games/live-blackjack about bonuses. This is not only excitement, but also interesting strategies. In general,
minimalist updates, such as controlling the sunroof via voice command, are not bad, but I would like to see more significant improvements in other functions.
Only noticeable difference is the voice command will now open and close the sunroof... pretty cool!

I see cars becoming more and more like computers, and the ability to update directly through the car's interface would be a significant advantage.
Absolutely...
I think the days of analog in most cars is a thing of the past.
I used to shop for vehicles that had little or no power anything... windows, seats, etc., as repairs on non-powered items are generally much simpler and less expensive.
Well, we are well past those days, with the OS now running most everything except the accelerator and brake pedal.
As long as the digital platform is reliable and error free, I am good with it.
Repairing an analog switch is easier the debugging the OS, but it is what it is...

my 2026 updates over the air directly to the car. It not without problems though.
