Software Update

Has anyone successfully installed a software update obtained from http://www.mini.com/connectivity

I noticed there was an update available that lists newer versions of multimedia and telephone than what I currently have installed.

Details are here: http://www.mini.com/connectivity/sof...pdate_info.pdf

I have MINI Connected with navigation which should be the 7L5 option.

I put the UPD01004.bin in the root folder of a flash drive and went through the software update menu option, but it did not work. I tried with 2 different flash drives and using both the USB port in the glovebox and the one in the center rail. Every time it gives me the message "No USB device with software was present"

Anyone updated their software before? Is there a trick to it?

Thank you for mentioning that. I just downloaded the update to my USB and tried without any problem. It only took about a minute. Didn't notice any difference, according to the document the update improves some compatibility issues with difference phones. But it's good to have the ability to update MINI connected by ourselves in just a minute. Hopefully they will release some more useful updates.

I have MINI connected without navigation though. Did you try to format your usb drive before copy the update file into it? I did it and formatted to fat32, just a FYI.

Part of that update states, Office: Improved support for email messages.
Now that alone is worth the update
Will be giving that update a try for sure. About time they get OFFICE going.

I've visited http://www.mini.com/connectivity/ with three different web browsers (Safari, Chrome and Firefox), but don't see a link on the page to download the update. Where did you all find the link to download it?

Never mind...used this link (http://www.mini.com/connectivity/sof...te/intro.html#) and it finally loaded below "Software Update" at the bottom of the page. That was quite strange...

I was able to do the update after formatting my flash drive on my Windows computer.

When I first tried it, I had downloaded the update on my Mac. Apparently Mini is not compatible with that.

Update complete….Painless
After the update, a message popped up on the screen…indicating that we should be seeing some nice upgrades shortly to Office. I wouldn't doubt that we'll see a update for the Mini Connected App soon. About Time

Unfortunately, I had to use a Windows machine to download the update to a USB drive. It would not recognize the version downloaded from my iMac. Installed the update, but didn't see any noticeable change in the system. Has anyone else had an issue with music playing from your iPhone/iPod not being as loud as regular radio? I was hoping this update would correct that.

I performed the update and:

1) Successfully did it off of a Mac - so timster's comment is not universally true
2) Like donaldq, noticed no real difference

I have an '11 CooperS ALL4 with Connected (but without Nav). My phone is an iPhone 4 with the latest iOS version (5.1).

Updated tonight and the connectivity difference with bluetooth and my android HTC MyTouch 4G Tmobile is amazing. I had bars the whole way home. Not once did they disappear. It's awesome!

I also put the UPD01004.bin in the root folder of a flash drive (FAT32), plugged the USB into the USB port in the glovebox (USB LED illuminated), and went through the software update menu option, but it did not work. I get the message "No USB device with software was present"

I have a 2012 (08.11 production) Countryman with Mini Connected/Navigation.

Is there a trick to the update that I am missing?

Downloaded to a freshly formatted MS-DOS drive and the car won't see it.

Attempting in my 10/2011 2012 MCS.

I tried this today and no luck. It reads the USB drive, but then tells me the software is not compatible with my car. I may be missing a step up from the original software? Any one who was successful happen to write down what version they were on before the upgrade?

I filled out MINI's very specific form on connected only to get he automated, "take it to the Dealer" reply.

I successfully updated through the USB port on the center rail.

However I first tried to update through the USB port in the in the glovebox, the USB drive LED illuminated, and I went through the software update menu option, but it did not work. I get the message "No USB device with software was present".

Just curious if anybody was successful updating through the USB port in the glovebox.

It's not the port in the glovebox, but the one on the rail, the one we use for iphone and music.

Same here, maybe we need the ecu update first?

I get exactly the same error. 2011 Mini Connected + Nav, freshly formatted USB drive (Fat32) plugged into the rail.

Update: When I got MINI's reply that I should take it to the dealer, I said"No, Thank You. My dealer is over an hour away and I was sold on the connected with the promise that I would be able to update it myself. I would like someone with knowledge of the system to call me to discuss." I got a call today. Can't deal with it now, but I will post the results of tomorrow's discussion.
