Oil Change

Finally had a chance to put my 25 up on ramps.

has anyone changed oil yet on their own? It looks almost impossible with the protective shield at bottom of engine compartment.

Here is the F56 2014-2019 version which should be similar. The 2025+ F66 and F65/F67 share the same oil filter as the 2014-2019 models.

The underhood shield aka the belly pan. Looks like it has the same access ports. https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...diagId=51_C850

The f66 has the same oil drain and oil filter flaps as f56 gen. You don't need to remove the whole shield.

Removing the shield will give better access to the oil filter, and make less mess. With a screw gun, adds maybe 5 minutes to the job.

So on F56, how does one know or really sure if the car has engine oil?

I know there's no dipstick.

Let's say the engine has almost no oil ( let say you don't know ), do you have to run the engine in order to see the oil level on the dash? if that's the case you are doing more damage to the engine.?

I think it should throw a warning light if its below a certain amount? Thats what the BMW do with that sensor. Never seen someone test it yet.

Any reason you're not taking advantage of the included free dealership oil changes?
