First time oil change: Not hard at all!

Ok so yesterday i decided to change my oil myself amid rumours that the oil filter was next to impossible to get to. I gotta say, aside from the spilled oil, it was pretty easy! Maybe its my skinny arms lol. BTW used Mobil 1 5W-20

Not Yet..

I have not changed the oil yet, but I am sure I will be...Good Job....
How did the old oil look?? How many miles since last change?? I am thinking of doing one in about a month, eventhough we just broke it in. We have 1500 miles on it but I'll bet their is some metal flakes and crud just because of the breaking in period....

Why does everyone think the Mini's oil is hard to change?

The oil filter couldn't be easier to get to, just a little spilt oil - same on 95% of automobiles today.

Truth is i think it was about 10K miles.. And it was my first oil change since i owned it, so it came out pretty dark.. But that filter wasnt half as hard as people say it is.. The worst part i would say is risking getting burned by the exhaust

I find it helps to put an old towel or t-shirt under the oil filter to absorb any spilled oil.

It is about the easiest oil change I have had on a car, except getting the filter back on can be a little tricky I find.
