USB Ports on '25 Coopers / F66
Hi
I'm from the UK so we get slightly different spec to you in the US, however can any of you help.
The bluetooth options are pretty dire, with no control of music playing at all from the OS9 media player other than forward/back.
Are they really trying to force everyone down the Android Auto/Carplay route ?
Thanks for any help anyone can give

- Do your cars come with two USB C sockets just in front of the arm rest ? (Assuming yes !)
- Are they charge only or are they both ? (In the UK they have charge only C sockets.)
- Don't suppose any of you have pulled that trim out and seen where the round connector on the USB ports is routed to ? (I don't have access to wiring diagrams)

Both USB can be used to read data and charge. Verified. I had two different USB thumb drives in both slots at the same time.
My next step is hoping someone has access to the wiring diagrams as you would think it's a simple cable missing !
So for anyone looking, confirmed the part number for the USB ports is 84 10 5A57B32 and the Fakra HSD Cable that connects to to the Head Unit is 61 11 5B35C45
When connected, supprise supprise the car now has USB media connectivity. Artists, Genre, Albums and album art all work. Amazing.

Looks like people do the same thing in the i4 bmw, charging and usb function, hence the icons/.

I'm interested in making this change to my 07/24 Cooper S, which also just has power-only USB ports. I find the Bluetooth interface very difficult to use.
I've had a quote from my local dealer for the replacement USB ports and the cable, which is around £108.
What exactly is involved in doing this? Presumably I need to take the centre console to bits to swap the module over, and somehow get to the back of the screen unit to plug the cable in. Is it an additional cable to what's already there, or do I need to swap them over?

I'd snap their hand off for £108. The parts and labour alone will cost that much. That sounds cheap.
A dual port USB/Power module pop up for around £30-40 on ebay used, and the Fakra HSD cables are about £20-30 due to the length and rarity. Add in some looming tape, cable ties and plasters for the cuts you will get
There is also quite a lot to remove....
Depends how you are. Its a lot of faffing for just £108.
Good luck

- Glovebox
- Release the IHU module and cables behind the glovebox
- Transmission tunnel covers
- Wireless charger
- Stupid sandwich box
- Centre Console

Sounds about right. The wireless charger isnt that great either as the positioning of the phone is critical and how long is the elastic going to last ? When I had it out its basically just melted/fused on so not replaceable in the future.
They really have done a half arsed job. For a so-called premium brand some of the things they have done is shocking.
