Gee, I always seem to miss the "action" around here!

...more on topic: Is there an estimated timeline when we can expect to see some formal information about registering, schedule of events, etc. for the Dragon?

I hate to nag - especially knowing what it is like for the volunteers trying to organize this stuff - but it would sure help when I try explaining this to a Newb if there was a single link with everything laid out and consolidated that I could point them to.

Yeah, Yeah, we're working on it. Still trying to finalize everything so we can provide good information. I think we are planning on having some concrete information around the end of this month.

Very Cool! I appreciate your stepping out to give the estimated timeframe and promise that I won't bug anyone about this again!

...and Sorry for being the PITA that asked the question. But you know how excited and anxious we all are! nod:

Ok, so this will be my first NAM event... I suspect it will be difficult to figure out who everyone is... Certainly we're not wearing name tags, and how confusing is it when many have a NAM name and an other-world name.

Actually, last year a lot of people had name tags with name/screen name/car picture. I think there were even some official NAM name tags. I just ran around saying, "Hi, I'm PEP!"

I wouldn't really call this a NAM event. Certainly most going are familiar with NAM. But that said I know a handful of people that are going that have never even posted on NAM. I also think that does a disservice to all those fine folks at local area clubs that are putting everything together.

This is a MINI event, a grassroots event that was founded by MINI enthusiasts, and continues to be. NAM is merely performing a service by providing a place to organize from and to sell MOTD-related things through its storefront, which is a HUGE help!

The past two years, Mark Ferguson offered neat buttons through the NAM store that have your MINI and your NAM username on them. Hopefully, they will be available again this year. I own two...one for my collection and one to wear.

Actually, I would imagine most if not all the rooms, cabins, whatever are already booked in and around Fontana. I made reservations two months ago and they were talking all but booked. Some of my buddies are booked over in Robbinsville. So if you think you are going, you might want to get on at least a waiting list for concellations which will happen. That was the only way I got a cabin last year.

That would SEEM to be the case, but whenever people post about calling Fontana, they are told something different, Call! Also, sometimes people who have made reservations need to cancel, so there are some lodging opportunities opening up on an unpredictable basis. I would not discourage anyone. I suggest that people call all the lodgings linked to www.tailofthedragon.com and see what's still available.

I agree with Clover. If there is anyone who decides right now that they want to attend the Dragon, they will be able to find suitable lodging for the event. Just start working on it now.

So, am I understanding right? There will be an on-line sign up like we had last year..? That was great, and very helpful.
