I guess when my 2012 arrives I could try the old Radio Shack flashing LED trick I used on my old Ford Focus ZX3. Connect the right two fuses and the light would only blink when the engine was off, otherwise it would blink away.

Ah man, sorry to hear that. I really want to do this. I think the 2008 may be able to do it but I am not 100% sure.

Can the alarm system be retro-fitted on a 2011?

Do you know that the modified trace file is actually being written to the car? In other words, if you read a trace file of your SPEG module right now, does it show DWA_VERBAUT active?

I got it working, you were correct that the file was not being written back to module. I was following a procedure I found on here but it worked for reading but not writing. I went to the BMW forum and found a procedure there and that workded perfect.

I would love to get the mirrors to fold in and out with the key fob but so far that is the only option that I can't get working.

Supposedly the BCM doesn't control the mirrors, or something like that. Basically it cannot be done with just programming, you would need to rewire physically and make a small circuit. So I have read...

Hi, on my 2007 R56 I coded SPEG and KOMBI modules to activate alarm heartbeat. If I read a trace file of both modules, it show DWA_VERBAUT aktiv ...but..nothing happend..don't blink :-(

My sw is Ediabas 7.2.0 Ecu files V32 and NCSEXPERT DATEN - SGDAT V41 files (I tried also V32)
I use Revtor's profile to read/write modules.

What I can do?
Tnx

PS: I coded "Close Windows with the remote" without any problem....

Does anyone know if it is possible to add the wiring for the alarm light in a 2011? The car took the code just fine but the light doesn't blink. I'm so sad it doesn't work in my car :(

GTECKO is going to try this combination to confirm that it works for him.
I coded other modules, but SPEG is not letting me read the trace due to the same error as above (also attached). I originally installed v38 from the Beginner thread and then had to install v45 to correctly code the KOMBI module. I tried the recommendation above putting v38 files back into ECU (original installation) and keeping v45 in SGDAT and R56 folders. That did not work. Tried v38 in ECU and v40 in the other two folders - did not work. Any ideas what to do next? Really want to get the heartbeat working.

ALL ISSUES RESOLVED!

Here is what I had to do to get all the modules to read without any errors and code without messing anything up. Download the new EDIABAS 7.2.0 package included in the Standard Tools Setup 2.10. This is an updated version of what was included in the package provided here on NAM in the Beginner thread. Here is where I downloaded it from: http://www.4shared.com/zip/nkqWbwoo/setup_2100.html Password to download is INPA - case sensitive. Then install datens v45. I followed the pdf guide part 1 in the Begginer thread but used the new Standard Tools Setup and Datens 45.

After installing the above, I could read every module without errors and was able to code without messing anything up after coding was finished. Heartbeat works as well and it looks great! I hope this helps someone down the line. This is THE best upgrade I've made to my car!

Yes - it's because we didn't change the HEARTBEAT_ZEIT setting in the SPEG module. It needs to be changed to "16min" (from the default "0min").

In my 2011 R58 (euro spec) I wired the missing links between the KOMBI and SPEG module. Just 2 wire and now (after coding) alarm leds work!
Attached you can see the drawing and where are located the connectors. Hope this help!

Wires do no not exist! There's not the predisposition of the alarm in LCI car. You must add 2 Simple wires from kombi to speg module.

Excellent work -congrats on getting this working! Installing those two wires isn't trivial!

I'm curious to know (as will late-model owners who may want to try out this mod): since the wires didn't exist, the terminals would not have been populated in the X14272 and X9002 connectors. Where did you get terminals for the connector from? Did you order them from the dealer?

Thanks!! :-D
Great question!...I have a spare Kombi bought some time ago. I pulled out the terminals and I soldered them at the extremity of 2 new wires. In any case, I think there's no problem to order them at the dealer.

I'm trying to decode what's going on in the couple diagrams you posted.

In the diagram it looks like you need to run only one wire from Pin #23 in X14272 to Pin #11 in X9002.

Is that right? You mentioned having to add two wires.

yes and no! :D
I try to explain: Kombi works with 2 led combinations: heartbeat (3 pulse leds) and after 16 minutes only one central led blinks. This function is made by separate circuits leds so, one circuit is heartbeat and one circuit is the single led. Now, if you connect only one cable, after 16 minutes (when the function of heartbeat finished), central led doesn't work because missing the other connection.
Hope you understand what I mean.

Makes perfect sense. So the second wire connects pin #11 in X14272 to pin #12 in X9002?
