Any recommendations on a light wiring harness for my tow hitch receiver on my 2023 Countryman. Looking online and its a bit confusing. I use the hitch reciever mostly for my bike rack but have a 5X6 trailer that I use to haul mulch from the garden store.

I can tell you my experience with installing a tow hitch on my 2013 Cooper Coupe. For the wiring I went with the Tekonsha ZCI Wiring Harness that does not require any alteration to the existing taillight wiring. The connection points are not physically connected, no splicing is required. Each zero-contact interface (ZCI) sensor included with this harness is able to read the current that travels through the wire it is clamped onto. Upon sensing the specific modulation of that wire, a signal is sent along the wire that connects the sensor to the included 4-way flat trailer connector. That signal is then transmitted through the connector to activate the appropriate function on the trailer lights. On my Coupe this works really well, and if I decide to ever sell the Coupe (I won't) I can easily unclip the sensors and move it to another vehicle. Installation is dirt-simple once you've identified which wire carries the appropriate signal in you taillight assembly. I bought mine at etrailer.com: https://www.etrailer.com/Trailer_Wiring/Tekonsha/119250KIT.html Recommended!

I'm struggling with this right now. See my other posts and search for EPC HG 17.
