Who’s towing?

I am selling my pickup to cut down to one vehicle and looking to outfit the countryman with a trailer hitch. I have a very small boat, under 500 pounds with the trailer and a small utility trailer for use moving items to the dump and stuff.

My question is looking at the outmotoring frame mounted hitch verse the ones that screw into the two holes on the rear of the car. Outmotoring looks to be the strongest but may be way more than I need and requires install time during warmer months. I’d rather use the ones that screw into the rear holes but I am worried it will snap...

Anyone using the sport link trailer hitch add on for more than just a bike rack? Feedback? Do you suggest I go with the frame mounted one and just stop fussing about it? Haha

As always thanks everyone.

I'm not towing anything, but I had a hitch installed at the local 'hitch shop'. It's the 'under car' version (sorry, don't know the brand). I use it for my bike rack. The rack is relatively heavy and holds 2 bikes.
I was worried about the strength of the hitch, also because with the rack all the force is basically trying to rip the hitch off downwards.
It seems to hold up fine though.
I used the same rack with a 2" receiver on my truck, but had to change to a 1.25" receiver for the mini.

Purchased the M7 hitch that screws in. It installs in literally less than 10 minutes. Will put her to the test this afternoon with my small utility trailer.

Here is a picture of it installed.

I have a similar setup with a cooper crap hitch. Hauls nicely, and even got my stuck butt out of a snowbank by being hauled out by it.

Haven’t tried out my trailer yet on it but will hopefully this weekend. Hoping to be able to haul my snowmobile locally 5-10 miles and do dump runs.

Most things I will be using it for are under 600 lbs in total tow. Glad to hear it has held up nicely for you though!
