Digital Instrument Cluster Retrofit

Hey howdy! I retrofitted the digital display into my 2017 Countryman. Used instructions in another page in the forum (thanks to pillpusher84) - and created a walkthrough video of the installation and coding. Hope this helps anyone looking to do the upgrade.

Looks great. You offer your coding services? I'd like to update my '19 to the new dash. I don't have HUD and would really like a little bigger display for km/h and have it show speed limit info at the same time.

I would strongly recommend you reach out to some of the guys in that thread. There are some folks who will actually do it for you remotely. I only feel moderately confident when I’m coding mine, but only when I have detailed instructions.

Just did this retrofit in my 2019 F57. Easy install and coding wasn't bad, either. Looks and works great, very happy with it. I picked up my cluster from a local MINI dealer, and they actually had the best price I could find when shipping and other factors were considered.

Thanks Jason, probably wait until I get back to the states at this point. The OP appeared to be in town, so I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask since he had all of the stuff, lol.

I recently Installed the 6WB MINI OEM Digital Speedometer in my 2018 Countryman All4 and had it coded by BimmerTech. All works well but I can't get the mini "next turn" direction to appear in the lower left center of the dash, it does however continue to show in my heads up display. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, BimmerTech has no suggestions!

Thanks,

I'm pretty sure that vehicles with the HUD only display the nav directions in the HUD and not in the digital instrument cluster.

Thanks, I was suspicious of that being the case! Unfortunately, BimmerTech should know that but they don’t. I do appreciate ur quick response, thanks again.

Have you tried closing the HUD and seeing if the nav instructions show up in the instrument cluster?

Yes, I have tried turning the HUD off, no change??? I have also gone to the central cluster and call up the Display screen to see if I could change what is displayed, nothing related to Nav.

Thanks,

I also updated the iDrive software coding it with the BMW issued 2022 version.

I don't remember exactly, but it was somewhere in the neighborhood of $500 USD.

I'm really not sure, then. My 2023 F60 displays these things on the HUD, but when I close it, it displays them on the digital instrument cluster. My 2019 F57 that has the retrofitted digital instrument cluster doesn't have the HUD, so I can't speak to that experience.

Hello everyone.
Maybe someone can help me. I bought a used digital display, it belonged to a 2023 Countryman with 1,500 miles.
In my ignorance and due to my haste I did not do the preliminary research on what are the requirements to upgrade to the new digital display.

In ebay I founded many Digital displays previusly used in other cars. And those sellers do not offer those digital display as virginized.

My question is:

Can I connect the digital display and do the corresponding coding, and after that the display will show the current miles of my car (2018 Countryman with 52,000 miles), or will I get an error message when the miles of my car do not coincide with those that the digital display of the donor car had?

O must be virginized before installation and coded?

As far as I know, as long as the cluster you’re retrofitting has less miles on it than the cluster you’re replacing, it should adapt to your car’s odometer.

F60 owner here - I installed a used digital cluster and had another member on here code my car remotely .....We were able to get it coded to the car but the red tamper dot showed (as expected) AND I have an issue with my mileage going up by 3-4 miles every time I cycle the ignition. We are not sure what it causing this so I am switching back to my original cluster until I can have the digital cluster virginized.

Thanks for the answers.

As the digital display needs to be virginized, I am going to sell it, and let the new owner take care of the virginization process.
If anyone is interested, I'll sell it for a much lower price than I bought it for.
I think $300 is a good price.
This digital display is for vehicles that do not have HUD

thank you for responding. sorry it took me a few days for me to see your response.

also i noticed someone said there's two versions of the digital cluster? or am i crazy (probably) one for HUD and one for without? could you share the part # you got?

edit: just researched some more that it looks like i might need a MOST cable...was hoping i would just get the cluster and get bimmertech or easyminicoding to code it. since it's wife's car. my main concern is the ability for her (new driver in US) to see the digital speed clearly and the speed limit warning. was gonna do it myself, but can't find a place/source to download e-sys and the packet needed for this thing. sigh...maybe i should just do the full screen carplay and call it a day.

hello
i am also looking to retrofit my 2019 JCW with this digital cluster but I have been given several part numbers on eBay and being that it’s a $600 expense I’d like to get the right part number.

would you be able to provide? I have been given this part number: 62105A49998 and I cannot find the exact march on eBay.

I did this with sourcing of the virtual speedo and programming from @sambir . I recommend you touch base with him - he did a great job!

Note also that there seems to be a issue with using an EU version display with a US version vehicle and having the parking brake light in the display. They are 2 different signal methods, so not cross compatible.

I have nothing but great things to say about doing this. I don't have the parking brake signal in the display, but it is very siimple to see the red light on if the parking brake is on. This is a non-issue for me. I believe at some point we'll identify a wiring, signal difference and someone with create a fix for this, most likely at the parking brake sensor switch itself.
