This one got good reviews at Wirecutter, but be advised it's quite large. You can get the TurboCord dual for $375 and it'll be a lot smaller. The TurboCord will support the maximum charging rate available for the Countryman SE but you'd need something bigger if you upgraded later on to a full electric car.

Waiting and Waiting....

My car offloaded in Baltimore (TOMBARRA) on 12/10 and the position reporting was extremely dodgy. I didn't see any updates on SailWx or Marine Traffic between the coast of Ireland and when it hit Norfolk. There were satellite positions available but none that you could see without a paying account, so have faith! Unfortunately, there has been no update from the dealer since the offload, and when I did email to ask the situation I was told "we'll call you when it gets here." Do the dealers really not know a car is coming until the truck pulls up in the lot and they see what rolls off? My wait (going on five months) has been so much more frustrating than when I purchased in 2004. My MA only responds when I ask a question - nothing proactive. Didn't tell me it was on the boat until it was five days past departure.

Good luck!

Don Carlos has arrived on the eastern seaboard, albeit all the way up by Newfoundland. Supposed to arrive the 23rd in Baltimore. It’s going to be a stretch to make it to the dealership by the 31st. They are supposedly going to fast track it.

How did you get the dealer to agree to try to fast track it? My car has been at the Baltimore VDC since 12/10, was supposed to leave there on 12/14 and deliver on 12/17 but as of 12/18 is still at the VDC and my dealer says they don't have any more information than that. It's incredibly frustrating. If it's been damaged and is having to have work done, I think they should be up front about that.

I guess I need to change my signature line to "less patiently waiting." I let my motoring advisor know that I would rather have more information even if it's not what I want to hear, than the zero information they give me unless I reach out to them. As much as they always hassle me at service time about "let us know what we can do to get top scores on the survey" they're not doing well at earning top scores for customer satisfaction.

Does anyone know if there is an escalation path for information? Even the Owners Lounge has been updated to show a delivery of 12/17 and we know how that thing lags.

What kind of timeline have people usually seen from the time the car was discharged from the ship and when it leaves the VDC? It looks like there was a lag in there but I don't know how much of an outlier this situation is.

I doubt they will get my ride out any quicker than yours. My MA said the District Manager put in a request to ship my out first, but 'there are quality inspection checks and shipping processes that we have no control over, so we can't guarantee anything'. Sounds like they are just trying to placate me due to the fact that I will be missing out on the $4k rebate for this 17' year filing.

Hopefully yours shows up today or tomorrow so you can pick it up as a Xmas gift!

Does 'Delivered From Baltimore' mean that it left on a truck or delivered to your dealership? I'm confused.

In that quote, I cut and pasted from the WW shipping - "delivered from Baltimore" means they finally transferred control of the car from WW to the VDC. The car was physically discharged from the ship on 12/10 but didn't get fully released from WW until 12/18. Sorry for the confusion.

My saga continues - despite the car having been in the US since 12/10, it's still not here. I went in person to my dealer on the 22nd to try to get more info, and was told it was on a truck and would arrive at the dealer 12/24, but of course they were closed for Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and then again 12/26. My MA just emailed me a few minutes ago to say the car is still not here, no explanation of why or where it is, and a new ETA of 12/29. Frankly I don't believe anything they say anymore. It's extremely frustrating.

I hope others who are waiting on cars before end of year have better luck!

She's here!

Picked her up last night and got to experience the AWD driving home in the snow. A little grippier than my Cooper S, for sure! Nice to be able to transport the entire family again.

Congrats, Seafire! Ours are matchy-matchy except for the wheels. How are you enjoying it in the New Jersey cold weather? It is -4 F here and apparently the car won't run in Max eDrive when it's that cold. I haven't gotten to that part of the manual yet that says what the temp limits are but I wish my dealer would have mentioned it the other day since it was below freezing when I picked it up!
