MITM ~ Who's going?
I went last year, and had a blast. Won't be there this year it's just to far to drive. I know you will have fun and I will be watching the Mountain Cam so wave at me and I'll wave back.
Yes, the Copper Cam will be on again
and hopefully, no rain this year. Tho that just added a bit of adventure.
Again, a few rides up Mt. Evans, hopefully we will have clear skies to view the asteroids....
Thanks

- Thursday, Brewfest. Evening "Ride to the Resorts" getting an evening lay of the land going by Breckenridge, Copper and Keystone as well as A-Basin. Over the Continental Divide at night...very starry.
- Friday, rides rides and more rides. A dozen to choose from. We do NOT choose times, YOU do. Come on down to the queue area, meetup with some folks, take off. You determine the ride, the time, the personnel. All rides are mapped and timed for you, with local landmarks and F&B pointed out. All registrants get a full map book. The best we have seen.
- Friday Sponsor's dinner (Ralph Schomp MINI) with prizes and gifts galore. And a surprise from MINIUSA.....
- Friday Midnight Ride to Mt. Evans. 14,246 ft high, on a paved road. At midnight, nekkid. Wow, what fun! See pics at www.MINI5280.org Then we do it again Saturday night, too! Midnight!
- Group picture before dinner.
- Saturday, wash, rinse, repeat. Saturday Vendor's dinner...more prizes and gifts. The food was great last year!
- Group picture, of course.
- Various rides take you to places like Rocky Mountain National Park, Steamboat Springs, Glenwood Hot Springs, Vail, Aspen, Beaver Creek, Fairplay Valley, Leadville Ghost Town, Winter Park, Peak to Peak Highway.
- And do NOT forget the Western DRAGON.....near to Denver and Mt. Evans.
Thanks,
Jonathan

It is time to get serious with loaner cars. What if all us MDT owners pledge to forgo warrenty service during the event . . .wouldn't the dealers have cars to loan to MITM? There has got to be a way for enthusiasts to fly and drive!
I went last year and pledged to go again this year. However, the date for the Leadville MTB 100 is on Aug 11. Which means, if I try to fit the MITM into the schedule, then I can't enjoy the Brewfest...

Glad to see you CooperDude!
We are happy to have you at MITM2 - CRTC Coopers Return to Copper. For those of you who were here last year, please note that we have some significant additions to the 2006 event:
Jonathan
- This year there will be some additional low cost housing options, in additional to the usual hotel and condo options at Copper
- There will be a brew 'event' on Thursday - as yet unnamed but planned for Thursday afternoon and evening. Stay tuned.
- A big surprise (on a national scale) that I cannot even mention here...
Jonathan
Yes I can
Final details are still being worked out but this I can tell you now:
As for myself, I had a nice big 2BR last year and only got there to sleep. I spent no time there at all, it did not make sense. Everything I needed was in, near or around the MINI and the parking structure.
Thank you for asking.
Jonathan
- We WILL have lower cost housing / lodging at MITM2 this year
- We WILL still have the nice hotel and condo arrangements as last year (Studio, 1BR, 2BR, 3BR) for those with families or who wish to group up.
- There will be a limited number of the lower cost arrangements but there will be plenty - and you will get yours if that is what you choose
- The lower cost (budget) lodging is on-site right in the Copper Mountain Resort
- The lower cost (budget) lodging will NOT have all the amenities that the regular Hotel and Condo lodging does, such as parking, health club, wireless, etc. etc.
- For those looking for sleeping arrangements only, the budget lodging will be perfect.
- The cost for the budget lodging (yet to be finalized) will be a significant and measureable drop from the costs of the normal hotel and condo lodging. You will like that.

Nick, you are sooooo there!
Lynn will be heading the volunteer crew again this year and you are #1 on her list. Pick a ride you want lead or let her know what you like to do, and that is fine. In spite of how well things seemed to go last year, we have already made improvements in how things will go this year...and we have expanded to allow for more parking, more vendors, and more events.
Further, we have arranged for a limited amount of "Budget Housing" so that people can have even more on-site housing choices.
Thanks for posting....see you soon.

Jon, will there be any scenic drives that aren't real twisty? Before anyone shouts blasphemy, my wife gets motion sick real easy. She'll be trying out some motion sicknesss patches for the Dragon. If those work then twisties would be great. If not it'd be nice to have some scenic rides where she won't get sick.
Indeed, Indeed!
In fact, there are a few mellow ones to choose from:
Hope that helps a bit...
Jonathan
- The Valley Loop. It goes south past Breckenridge, over Hoosier Pass (very shallow, not much to it, straight down without much turns) then into Fairplay, out into the valley, across the Colorado River to Buena Vista, then up to Leadville (straight shot) then 19 miles back downhill gently, and straight, all the way to Copper.
- Glenwood Hot Springs (destination drive) - www.hotspringspool.com this can be a straight, interstate-all-the-way but scenic, sort of drive. Or you can go up thru Leadville, down past Ski Cooper (not curvy) and thru Minturn. Then more Interstate. Or...you can go up over Independence Pass (a bit curvy going up, very narrow coming down) but the reward on the other side of the pass is....ASPEN! What a gorgeous high-dollar town! Heated side walks - never get your feet snowy. Stairs? Forget it. Take your stuff up the public escalators....yes, outdoors! Then to Glenwood.
- Steamboat Loop and Destination - technically, more hot springs and at night, au naturel if you know what I mean. Both going and coming are valley loops so they are not high (Rabbit Ears pass is mellow for a pass, and gorgeous) but not much in the way of twisties.
- And there will be others, too. Destination:Vail is one of them. Just go for ice cream. 21 miles down the Interstate.
- Mt. Evans both Friday and Saturday night at Midnight. 14,246 ft high, paved all the way, nekkid. Wow. That is twisty.
- The Western Dragon. 31 miles, 346 turns. Ends or begins at Mt. Evans anyway.
- Rocky Mtn National Park / Estes Park loop. Twisty and curvy all the way up and down. But you peak at over 11,000 ft in the tundra. Elk, marmot, bighorn sheep, mountain goats. Can't be beat.
- Continental Divide - a short route near Copper, goes to Loveland Ski area, Loveland Basin, A-Basin and Keystone all in one ride. Great at night too, somewhat curvy in the middle.
Hope that helps a bit...
Jonathan
