East going West in Kansas
Here is what I suggest
to everyone coming from the East, especially along I-70:
Easy. Joe-Bob says....Check it out.
JPS
- Just up the hill from Denver is Evergreen, CO
- There is a well marked exit, and hard to miss
- There is a McD's there, where you can stop and use the facilities if you like
- If all MINIs stop, you may run into someone
- BTW, if you wish to take the WESTERN DRAGON and get some twisties in, then this is the exit you want, anyway
- Head west on Evergreen Parkway to Bergen Park. Then go a bit further to Buchanan Ponds, and turn right on Hwy 103. That is the Western Dragon and it takes you all the way up to the mouth of Mt. Evans (see in the daylight what will scare the daylight out of you in the moonlight)
- Then head down Chicago Canyon road to Idaho Springs (twisties, of course) then take I-70 westbound again all the way to Copper. Only 40 more miles from there.

Thanks for the heads up Jonathan. By the time us plains drifters get that far we will be itching to get to Copper as it will be getting close to beer:30. But if we can work in the Western Dragon so be it. Having not driven it last year do you think the Dragon Wagon can take it? What am I saying of course it can.
Additionally those of us making the trip to Mt. Evans on Friday and Saturday night may want to stop to get our passes as we go by the gate on the Western Dragon.

The official stopping off and refreshment point
for MINIs heading west, once you leave Denver, is the Evergreen Parkway exit, at the McD's, up the hill a few miles. Can't miss it.
That way, you have the choice of continuing on I-70 westbound, you can get to the Western Dragon easily from there, or you can cut thru Evergreen, hit 285, and go that way thru Fairplay then Breckenridge to reach Copper.
Your choice.
