OEM Joey mod / Black headlights!

After waiting almost 7 weeks after a factory backorder, today my dealer finally got my headlights…

Instead of going the Joey mod route to blacken my headlights I installed the black headlights that comes on the 50th anniversary special editions… So the parts are completely OEM, no worry about the paint ever flaking or whatever!!!

Took about 45 minutes to complete, transferring the bulbs, adjusting and done! I love the result… Pictures kinda suck but the car is in the garage but you'll get an idea...

Very nice. I'm sure it costs a fortune for those lights.

In the US you can probably expect around $1000 for the pair, maybe less… The good thing is I found a buyer for my older pair which paid for half the new one.

Looks great . Any idea of a none xenon exists? I'm sure it would be cheaper.

I dont think so, as these parts belong to the Camden edition and comes in Xenon version only

Agreed. But from the OP's view point, he was going with the OEM package which is totally understandable.

I just got them from my local MINI dealer.

As for the other comments, yes I personnaly prefered going the OEM route even though it is a lot more money than painting, but that's a matter of personnal taste, no bad or good way to do it

they look great!. wouldnt be surprised to see some Camden owners wanting to trade eventually. The black ones do look a tad odd on the all white.... and these chrome ones are looking a tad odd on my DS..

I'm to afraid of the Joey mod personally. I've done it twice before on other headlights assemblies, scared me every time.

Which year headlights? I'd be afraid of 02-04, but 05-10 should be pretty easy.

Very cool. That is a large chunk of chance but knowing your mini is made your own with 100% OEM pieces can give a nice peace of mind. If any Camden Owners wanna trade headlights, let me know

Burley hits the years dead on for access. The newer the easier to open. I found second gen to be the easiest.

Last time I checked just the standard xenon headlights are like $800 per light, so I expect these will cost more than $1k in the US.

Looks great! Of course I'm partial to DS

I'd be willing to trade with someone who doesn't want their Camden lights too!

I've done a joey mod on the '03, and it was a huge disaster. Baking, prying, baking, prying.... ruined my lights basically. Then I got a set of 05 xenons, and I was able to remove the lens without even putting it in the oven. I left it in a heated house (70 deg) for an hour, and the glue was soft enough to take off with my bare hands. Took 2-3 min per light...

To each his own. OEM is still OEM. Hey, if you have the money, why not?

That's about the retail here in Canada, I'd be really surprised if your price is not significantly lower (it always is!)… Let me get the MINI part numbers so you can look it up with a local US dealer, I'll have the numbers with me in a few hours

However, you can order them here http://www.minigenuineparts.co.uk/mi...eadlights.html
