R60 Flatout Suspension Issues
Flatout Suspension Issues
Does anyone have experience setting up their Flatout Suspension GR Lite coil overs on an R60 Countryman?
I've got horrible clunking/banging noise from the Flatout front coil overs after install. The "clunk" happens on sharper bumps (i.e. manhole covers) and not on smoother bumps (i.e. speed humps).
Here's some background: I've got a 2012 CMS All4. I purchased the GR Lite direct from Flatout Suspension. I included the M7 adjustable sway bar end links. It was all professionally installed by a two experienced mechanics who own their own shop.
Driving the car home from the shop, a loud clunking was immediately obvious on certain bumps. The impact shakes the floor of the vehicle. It's a sharp clunk/bang sound on both front coil overs.
I took the Mini back to the shop the next day. The mechanics spend 4 hours and a dozen test drives trying to diagnose the issue. Changing ride height didn't help. Disconnecting sway bars didn't help. Changing pre-load didn't help. Adjusting the camber plates didn't help. Checking and double-checking the installation didn't help. The mechanics' best guess is that maybe the coil spring is separating from and then banging against the spring seat.
I've contact Flatout multiple times but haven't received a reply. They're probably too busy to deal with a lone customer.
If anyone has experienced similar issues or knows what to look for, please let me know.

Have you found a resolution to this? I bought a set and am having the same exact issue along with not getting any response for technical assistance. I have the support from the website I bought them acting as a middleman, but not getting any good information.
Don't sell those coilovers but sounds like preload might be an issue?
Maybe reach out to M7 Speed as they have these?
I know on our ECS Coilovers we installed on an R60 here you have to have a little preload otherwise the spring will clank on the mounts.
