2011 R60 1.6s - Vacuum hose missing question

Hi guys. So I just picked up a used countryman. So far the car has been great. However, after inspecting the motor... I noticed a nipple was open ended near the right side of the motor (near recirculating hose coming from the valve cover) ...and I can tell it leads/points to some empty metal clips looping around the back side of the air filter box.

I can take a picture, etc.. but if you know the air box this is the 1/4-1/2 hose that goes right around it on the back side leading to the passenger side.

Where's the end? its quite tight back there so its hard to see where it goes...

Thanks!

It's a fuel vapor recirc from the tank, emissions equipment.

It may be tucked back or under the airbox, but it should also give you a fault light as there is unmetered air getting into the system if the car was equipped with it. Some cars have that nipple but it is blocked off, so there is no hose that goes to it from the factory.

Well that explains it

Thanks for the reply. I have to look again, but I'm pretty sure it is an open port. The car runs fine, but every so often the cel pops, i even brought it to advance when it came on.. the cel light was on but no codes came up on their scanner. Turn the car off and most of the time thw cel would go off or in a few short miles go off. So maybe this hose is the issue. .. if I take the air filter box out will i see this hose ending point?
Thanks again!

The hose may be behind the airbox, or down by the intake manifold if the car was equipped with it, but there are some cars that just have a dummy plug there.

You'll need to find a quality scan tool, generic tools don't read manufacturer codes.

FOr those that upgraded their turbos to a 42mm or larger, did you change the OEM intake hose? If yes, it is because the OEM does not fit the inlet or outlets of the new turbo? Did you change it to one like this in the link. If yes, what did you do with the vacuum hose? If you modified the hose, please explain how to make the modification. Thanks.
