2014 Countryman S All4...manual - opinions?

Wanted to reach out to see if there were any current owners who have/had any clutch issues with the 2014 R60s

I have a 2014 R60 S All4 manual, but haven't had any issues with the clutch.

Thanks for the feedback. Not even the smelly clutch issue either? Have you had to replace it yet or anything?

I honestly don't remember for sure, but I recall reading that the smelly clutches were fixed during the 2014 model year. I think it may have been fixed before I ordered mine.

I have about 45k in miles and really can't think of any issues with the clutch. No replacement or any problems. I drive in traffic pretty frequently but also do a lot of highway driving. We have a summer place in the mountains and I take advantage of the hills and turns. So it's not like it isn't being used.

I would keep you updated of any problems, but I'm trading it in in about 8-10 weeks for 2017 R60!

good luck!

I have a '12 with what I assume is the original clutch. I am the second owner but there was no mention in the service records of anything clutch related. 88k and still picks up about halfway up the pedal. Full grab about 2-3 inches from top and no smell.

'11 and '12 had the clutch issues with the friction material. That was fixed with the '13 on models. Mini even coughed up and fixed customers clutches on the previous two years. When I bought mine, it was listed on the carfax that the clutch was looked at. I had to call the actual dealer which was on the east coast that "looked" at it. Turns out they replaced everything with the newer friction plate, pressure plate, and flywheel. Mine is a '12 All4.

We have a 2014 with no clutch issues yet. I still feel like it seems weak in 1st gear. We had a 2012 that we filed a lemon claim on due to the clutch issue.

Sounds like you are expecting the clutch to fail.

A few late production 2012's and the 2013's and newer got the uprated clutch but its like anything else. There will be exceptions to the rule and some wont take the beating they get too kindly.

I hate first gear... Sometimes it's fine, other times it feels like you're not giving it enough power...

73k miles on our 2012 with the original clutch...

I just bought my 2014 CM S All4 with 62k miles on Saturday. I have put 300 miles on the car and its already going to the shop to have a slipping clutch fixed. The RPMs will spike as the speed remains unchanged. Thankfully since I identified the issue as soon as I got the car (but not on the short test drive I had), the dealership is covering the repair.

I should add that this is not my first manual vehicle, and I wasn't doing anything I shouldn't have been.

I just got the first slip out of mine with now 89k. Was going slightly uphill in 6th with 16psi boost showing. Haven't been able to replicate, maybe was just cold? Either way, it's rare I have it floored uphill like that. I know my days are numbered

some clutches don't like the cold, the clutch in my r53 doesn't like the cold or the slave cylinder doesn't.

but I accept that one day the clutch in the r60 will fail, and ill see how Mario's new clutch is going to do!

That is what I am hoping! Havent driven the car above 50* really but it would be weird that it grabs so low in the pedal and would be worn out. I can launch at 4k and the engine will bog before the clutch slips.

So far so good. I have 800 miles on it now. It grabs well, shifts smooth and revs quick. Only issue is a slight chatter when the clutches is cold at idle. I plan on raising the rpm idle 100 to get rid of the faint noise.
