I'm about to install a set of these on my countryman. I see the above reply stating the wiring combinations, but I want the LED halo to be energized all the time... As in on with Headlights and on with DRL - but I've got no earthly clue as to what wire (or even voltage for that matter) it needs to energize.
@techgearpro
If I tap a wire that connects to the headlight harness, wouldn't that cause power draw issues? For example, a fast blinker or higher impedance in the circuit? Wouldn't that cause issues within the car's coded system?

@ECSTuning I hope you can answer my question! I just ordered a set of these from yall 😊

@Ryan Puzerewski I was not able to find an easy place to tap in to have the LED halo on when the car is on. Maybe you could find coding that would always energize the DRLs so you could tap into that feed but I haven't seen that option in Bimmercode. You may have to run something off the fuse box that gets power when the car is on. Once you have the lights hooked up, you will see that the LED halo is really bright. I was concerned it would create glare when run with the headlights, especially in rain or fog conditions.

I ended up returning the lights because the beam pattern was terrible and the lights were no brighter than the stock halogens with Sylvania Silverstar Ultra bulbs.

Let us know what you decide to do.

@techgearpro I could see the beam pattern being an issue with halogen bulbs. I'm running the S-v.4 LED conversion kit in those lights, which produce about double the lux of a halogen bulb. I'll post some pictures after they're all hooked up and the headlights are aimed.

I'm not completely concerned about glare, actually. Here in SC there are a lot of trucks with illegal (shroud-less) HID conversion kits and lifts with the 'Carolina squat' (front higher than the back, headlights in the sky). As long as I can see and the headlights are aimed properly, I think I'll be okay.

You can tap the position light on top of the fog light (if you have fog lights) some MINIs that dont have fog lights just have that position light.

Position Light w/fog light:

That is how i did mine on my R58 JCW with the other style set for my car. They come on when I click the stalk on click. If you want them on as a drl, then you either program to set those factory lights as DRL. With something like the carista or bimmercode. https://www.ecstuning.com/b-carista-...cobd-bt24~cra/

You can tap any 12v constant, but make sure it goes off when you shut the car off.

These are projector lights so they will be fine with LEDs as they are focused with cutoff. Not like putting a general LED bulb in a halogen housing with no projector (shoots light up in the air and everywhere)

@ECSTuning I have the position lights and fog lights on my R60, And I will be installing the vinstar halo v2 foglights (that are available on ECSTuning) - and I assume, since those are plug and play, that the halo on the fog lights is powered by that position light.

Would I be pulling too much power by tapping into the position lights if they're already powering the halo fog lights? I'm feeling like I'm going to be tapping a 12V wire somewhere else.... But then again, the LED probably doesn't take all that much to power. I just don't want to cause too much impedance in the circuit. I have an obd2 reader on delivery that works with bimmercode. I'll have to play around with the programming.

Hello,
https://www.ecstuning.com/b-vinstar-...-r56-v2-cb~vi/
Note that these are not designed for MINI with no fog lights unless modified Read the description.

The halos can tap into the factory or aftermarket position lights wire. All MINIs have those.

No, will not pull that much power.

@ECSTuning My mistake! They are the Vinstar V3 fog lights, and yes, I already have the OEM fog lights on the car. So you're saying, that if I install the V3's, they will use the position light wiring to power their halo, and I can tap into that wiring to power my Spyder Headlight halo. Got it.

Since they're both 12V Constant I'm certain that will work. I'll post updates to show what they look like after install!

Oh ok, just making sure. yes same on V3. If you have OEM fogs straight swap then tap the position light line on the oem harness side.
